Ok here goes...

3A/2AA was in the game against 6A/6AA until just over the half way mark, and then the Teal 6A/6AA team broke the shutout, and the other goalie couldn't put up a brick wall like the first, and 6A/6AA went on to win 4-0. The teal team has several good players to watch.

The 1A/1AA(red) and 7AA/7AA(royal blue) was a faster paced game from the get go. The red team had a lot of pressure early on, and really seemed to take it to the Northern boys in the first. After 1 it was 3-1 Red. Shots were about even in the teens.

The second started with a flurry for the royal blue boys and they kept steady pressure on the Red goalie, but only one more would sneak past him. They then hammered the other goalie for the next 2 periods putting 37 shots on him and 7 went in. The other Royal Blue goalie faced only 11 shots total and posted a shutout. 1A/1AA came out and pressured in the third, but the goalie whethered all 10 shots to preserve his 0. There was a great crowd for this game, maybe a couple hundred. Lots of standouts on both teams, but to pick the best of the best- Mike Solinger from Brainerd had a goal and at least one assist, Allen Rauschel of Cloquet had at least 4 points, Devon VanHouse of Silver Bay also had several points. B. J. O'Brien of Lakeville stopped 20 shots and let in 2, but he looked pretty steady, and a kid from Farmington had multiple points, but his name escapes me.

The 4A/4AA (grey) vs. 8A/8AA was an exciting match up apparently (I only saw the last part). The game seemed even, and the two teams went to OT at 3 each. There were a lot of chances for both teams in OT, but the grey team prevailed about half-way through. I didn't watch enough to determine who was good.

The other game I didn't see any of, but 5A/5AA beat 2A/3AA 7-5.

A good night of hockey, followed by a hopeful tomorrow. Games start at 12:30 tomorrow- 2A/3AA vs 3A/2AA on Rink 2, 6A/6AA vs 5A/5AA on Rink 1 at 1:00, 1A/1AA vs 8A/8AA on Rink 2 at 3:00, and 4A/4AA vs 7A/7AA on Rink 1 at 3:30.
Puckster

www.wildpuck.com

Great 8

Tickets are $8 to see all the games that day.

The game featuring 5AA/5A (Orange) vs 3AA/2A (White) was a fun one to watch. Pretty much a track meet up and down the ice all game. Just a few penalties the entire match. White had forward lines featuring Sam Kelly, Ryan Peckskamp and Casey Parenteau, Matt Greer, Tim Dickhudt and Dan Bonne. Orange countered with lines of Mike Taylor, Jason Wiley, Tom Freeman; Alex Arnason, Trevor Bruess, Ryan Gunderson. Orange's best line featured, Dustin Fulton centering BJ Bayers and David Martinson. That line figured in on 5 of the 7 goals as Martinson had 3 goals and two assists. They were dominant when they were out there. Lundin was the best goalie of all, only giving up one goal. Stutz gave up three, the first one to Bayers on a nice pass from Martinson right at the crease. Greg Battani got the game winner for Orange on a great hustle play. Sam Kelly looked very good for White.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub33.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUser ... toomany at: 3/28/04 9:16 pm

The Orange team from Sections 5AA/5A won the Ted Brill Great 8 Tournament today with a 2-1 Overtime victory over 7AA/7A. It was a tight game the entire way with great goaltending from all four netminders. Mike Taylor (Holy Angels) got the gamewinner about 2 minutes into OT on a nice wrist shot from the right circle over the blocker of Dustin Carlson (Forest Lake). Tyler Brigl & Matt Lundin were great in the nets for Orange. Lundin only gave up one goal in three games. Dustin Fulton (Breck) got the other goal for Orange off a pass from BJ Bayers (SLP).

The Chicago Showcase team should be announced later this week. Lots of scouts there all weekend to watch some real good hockey. Congrats to all the players. It was a great way for them to end their high scholl careers.

3AA/2A won their game on Saturday beating the 2AA/3A team. They then lost like 7-2 Sunday to the 8AA/8A team from up north.

Does anyone know when they are planning on picking the team that will head to Chicago? I had heard that it is going to be sometime during this week. Any specific deadline when this posting should be out?
Thanks

The scoring results from the Great 8 have been tabulated and posted on minnesotahockey.org. Here's the link to that page:<a href="http://www.minnesotahockey.org/pdfs/Sco ...

Section 5AA/5A had the top scores in David Martinson and BJ Bayers of St Louis Park. Both had a six point weekend. After that, most of the other top scorers were from up north (other than Olson from Edina): Stengl (EGF), Solinger (Brainerd), Kemp (Hermantown), Deutz (MH), and Raushel (Cloquet) all had a 5 point weekend.

Goalies stats were not listed. I assume Matt Lundin was the top goalie as he let in only one goal in three games.

I believe many of the players chosen for the Chicago Showcase team have already been notified. Congrats to all!

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub33.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUser ... toomany at: 3/30/04 11:30 pm
