Derek Hittle

Post by kazmo3 »

I know that Stutz will get most of the praise out of the 2 goalies in the championship game. Of the tournament unquestionably, but in this guys mind Derek Hittle was the goaltender to stand on his head that fateful March night. He even said that he played the best game of his life that night and to be able to say that and only have your team get beat 1-0 is saying something about the quality of hockey in our great state. Hats off to both teams and we were shown that these really were the two best teams in the state this year, something that rarely happens. I'm glad I got to be at the game to witness such a beautiful thing, No. 1 versus No. 2 for the state championship.

I also thought Hittle played outstanding in the championship game.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

Well he really had to make it up after the way he played on Thursday. I do think that he had a good game but there wasn't many quality shots. He didn't see many (if any) rebound shots because of his D and not many shots were quality shots. The one time that he was challenged he let in a goal and it wasn't even that great of a shot, it hit the center of the net.

what game were you watching?

Post by bisketboy »

Anybody who's played goalie will tell you it is easier to play in a game where you are getting shot at than one where you don't. In the Elk River game Hittle had hardly any shots except
quality ones MHD gave up in our own zone. Greatest stop of the tourney was when he stacked the pads on a Cent. breakaway. Great goalie and a great kid.

Its easier to play in a game that you get more shots on???<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> . What are you on? Yea....its so much easier getting 50 shots than getting 5. I was a goalie in high school and you couldn't be more wrong.

you lose your focus if your not getten shots. I mean I doubt that happened playing E.R. but it does happen.
Good Teams Would be Nothin without Good Water.....

Hittle

Post by Hockeyfanatic23 »

Hes probebly used to only seeing that many shots a game. What was his goals against average like 1.05? then his save percentage was either .930 or .940. If you add it out thats an average of 16 to 18 shots a game. He should be used to not seeing many shots.

All Im saying is that the kid played one hell of a game and deserves a little recognition. To give up only one goal on that many quality shots against Centenial was a feat.

Average at Best

Post by oletimer »

Hittle was an average goaltender who struggled thru the season while playing just under 50% of his teams games. Played well in the championship game although he didn't face a ton of high quality shots. Must shoulder a good share of the responsibility for a near disaster in the first game. Will be hard pressed by this years jv goaltender to keep his minutes next year. Needs lots of work this summer and fall if coach can find a team to place him on.

What are you talking about

Post by STATEofHKY »

Oletimer what are you talking about? Hittle is an outstanding goalie. He played outstanding the hole tournament. The first game how can you say that its his fault for an almost loss? All of the shots ER scored on were quality shots from either right in the slot or even closer in. I think that almost any goalie would have given up those goals. Also Hittle played a consistent game all year long, so I don't know how you could say that he "strougled" through the season. Also the JV goaltenders have no chance at taking playing time away from him. Expect Hittle to be #1 next year regardless of how hard he works this summer.

I agree with STATEofHKY. I'm pretty sure Hittle had better stats this year (and they were solid stats) than Deutz if you look at save % and GAA. He should be the #1 goaltender for the Spuds next year in my opinion too. I think oletimer must be related to the JV goaltender to come out here and bash Hittle like he does. So unless this JV goaltender moving up to varsity next year is some phenom, he'll be on the bench a lot.

Hittle

Post by centerman »

Hittle was a rock in the title game. Centennial had 3 to 4 times as many quality scoring chances.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

Wish Moorhead could develop their own goalie and not recruit one from Alexandria.

Maybe if Alex could develop a decent hockey team to compete with Moorhead, their goalies wouldn't want to leave.

Hittle

Post by Johnny Knoxville »

Fact is Morinville new he had to get hittle out of Alex so when hittle showed interest Morinville got him out of there. Flat out. Wonder how Spencer feels about that. Bring in a better goalie so he can sit the bench. You put Hittle, Meyers, Herd and the Erickson boys on the ALex team. See ya later Moorhead. Just a point so dont get your panties in a bunch!!!

MHD. PUMMELED YOU WITHOUT HITTLE IN THE NET. HITTLE
SAID AS EARLY AS SELECTS LAST YEAR HE WAS COMING TO MOORHEAD. PROBABLY DIDN'T WANT THE EMOTIONAL SCARRING A KID COULD GET PLAYING IN THE CARDINAL NET.

Sounds to me like you're the one whose got his panties in a bunch over losing Hittle to Moorhead. And unless you can prove Morinville "recruited" Hittle, you should really keep your mouth shut and not make wild accusations.

I could give a crap that he plays there or wherever he plays. I know for a fact that Morinville pushed him big time. Morinville is all about himself.

Oh my bad alex did not score in that game in was only 5-0. Another thing that might have confinced him to move is the fact that moorhead had been to state the past 3 years, and everyone knew they were going to make it 4 this year. So instead of waiting to get beat in the championship game of sections of wait you did not even get that far he came to a team that could win

if alex had meyers herd the erickson boys and hittle it still wouldn't be close, moorhead would still kick their a$$ up and down the rink......hittle moved to moorhead wanting a better chance to get exposure to play junior hockey after hs and get a chance to play in the state tournament....which he did...
