East Greyhounds

Post by Jesrober »

I think the Hounds are going to do fantastic in the tournament. This team has a lot of heart, and pride. With 14 seniors on their team they want to make an impact on Duluth East hockey, and they will. I think the character will carry this team far...far in the tourney. They had to go through so much during the offseaon with the coaching turmoil, but they didn't let it get to them during the season. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D"> Also Maida has been stellar in net as of late, and I don't think his hot streak is gonna die anytime soon.
What do you guys think? I think Centenial and Holy Angels are also teams to look for in this years state tournament.
But I'm rooting for the Greyhounds.

Plus they get to play Lakeville in the first round. That doesn't hurt!

not gonna happen people. East will not win this tournament. the first game is a given for them but after that it is all downhill. the other teams will dominate them and they will lose. thats what happened at the holiday classic.they got killed!<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... lasses.gif ALT="8)">

Right on jesrober in fact they are my darkhorse pick. With 14 Seniors in the line up anything is possible in a three game tournament. Should the Hounds become the Anoka of 2004 well that would be allright with me.

"thats what happened at the holiday classic.they got killed! "

yeah but you gotta remember at that time easts goaltending wasn't really there. And there cach was still new to them. They have fallen into the groove now and are ready. Watch out Moorhead because the team that beat once already this year is even better then before!

I don't think that East is a shoe in for any game. If I remember correctly, East only tied Lakeville earlier this year. However, that being said, I do think East will have an easy win over Lakeville in the tournament. I think that besides the AHA vs Centennial game, the East vs. Moorhead game (assuming they both get there) will be the most exciting to watch. There is an old rivalry there. If Moorhead were to lose to East, it wouldn't be that big of a suprise, Moorhead has always been intimidated by East. East is not a team where you can look at their stats and their past wins/loses and try to make a judgement on a future game. East is always unpredictable and they seem to have a talent for being able to pull out the big wins when they really matter. Some thought that was a talent they learned from Randolph and so they wouldn't be as big a threat this year as in the past 10, however, remember boys, that these players are still Randolph's boys. They still played with him and grew up watching his teams play in the State Tournament. East's confidence could pull them over the Spuds. I don't think anyone can call that game in advance. It should be interesting to watch come Friday night.

SpudGirl--Great post. You know your history and your hockey. East should never be counted out or counted off becuase they can surprise people. It seems this years team can be very good at times, while struggle at times. I'm hoping they will be on for the next week, so they can bring the Championship back to the students of Duluth East. It should be a great tourney as always.

Go Greyhounds, there's the small matter of Thursday's quarterfinal games. Let's see if East and Moorhead can get past tomorrow before we start talking about Friday. You never know, they could be playing each other..at 10 a.m. at Mariucci.

Lee
