Slappy, I never gave up the farm because I never bought the farm. I may be looking at the world through metro colored glasses, but I do see two good Catholic teams at the top right now. We'll find out how good the Section 8AA Spuds are when the Catholic Pioneers get in their diesel powered covered wagons and head west to face them. Heresy, prophesy, call it what you will, but I see the Spuds unable to wreak revenge for last year's upset. packer, let's hope Stitch Lips picks up the tab and doesn't leave it 'up for grabs'. And v-scout and BB may like the drinks with straws, but Slapshooter is definitely the straw that stirs the drink.

Well right you are Chris. But not to worry, Stitch Lips doesnt dive under the table when the tab comes like bluesbuddy always did. Bluesbuddy throws nickels around like they were manhole covers. You try to tell him what he owes and he starts speaking in Anglitch. But no matter who picks up the tab, which Catholic will win it is "Up for Grabs" and the crazy section 8 folks know it for this year.

Wel Pete, not exactly. The Apocolypse will come when the 4 horsemen a/k/a The Crusaders ride into St Paul and crush the infidels.They will drive them form the Holy City just like they did around Christmas time....(Kwanzaa if you are in the public schools)...as predicted by yours truly. There was nothing "Up for Grabs" at that time as the Catholics left no doubt. We arent sure but we think the seance accomplished the other night is the first ever using cyber space. Exorcisms have been attempted but the phobics continue to spin their heads around in circles shouting in weird voices obsenities about recruiting. Everything is "up for Grabs"

That Detroit Lakes’ starting quarterback and running back participated in the Upper Midwest High School Elite Hockey League during the football season says something about how seriously they take hockey. Unfortunately, since the rest of the state, and minnhock cynics such as greenwave11 has put Detroit Lakes in a pigskin pigeon-hole and because the school hasn’t reached the state tournament since 1996, the Lakers don’t have the type of schedule that would earn them extra points in the BCS. That’s why the next week is so important. Detroit Lakes has outscored opponents 115-37 and is 16-4 overall, including 6-3 against teams with winning records. But the Lakers are 4-3 in Class 1A, Section 8 play, putting great playoff-positioning weight on upcoming road dates at East Grand Forks (7-11-2) Tuesday and No. 5-ranked Thief River Falls (14-5) Feb. 11. Greenwave11 will have to eat his words, but riverman may be serving crow to slapshooter if the prognosticators from the shady bunch seances have their way. “A lot of teams have beaten a lot of teams that you maybe wouldn’t expect,” said Lakers coach J.J. Vold, whose team proved as much by losing 5-3 Tuesday against a Park Rapids club it beat 8-2 earlier this season. “Everybody’s right there, it's definitely up for grabs with Thief River Falls maybe a couple steps above the rest. But I like our chances.” That confidence has nothing to do with what he does – or doesn’t see, considering the lackluster schedule – in other clubs. They got the ship kicked out of them all three meetings. So although the Lakers have never won Section 8 – both section titles came from Section 4 – they’re no stranger to stiff competition. In fact, they’d like to think they provide some. “We know exactly what kind of hockey needs to be played to win the section,” said Vold, an assistant with the state-tournament qualifying Anoka girls team last season. “The schedule falls where it falls and there’s nothing we, you or the shady bunch can do about it.” "Slapshooter made it very clear that Section 8A is very clearly up for grabs this season."

I think they are back to reality, not as a great team, but an average team....and will need to match the effort they put forth against Roseau to have a shot at meeting TRF in the finals for the section championship.
