slippery slope

I think there is a real slippery slope here. State and local budgets are being squeezed. Most of you skate at rinks that are subsidized by state and local taxes. Hockey families are definitely not the majority of the people living in the community but in most places the arrangement works. Start havi...

MNHockeyRankings.com provides another view of the rankings. It's 100% math-based, using game results to compute rankings. http://mnhockeyrankings.com/ Jefferson is #16 in those rankings. While not subjective, even math based rankings have their limitations. Enjoy them for what they are...

Sorry

Sorry to start the debate again... By the way, the last two sentence of the paragraph that was quoted were left off. It might be worth noting that I've run the numbers pretty thoroughly. The last two sentences: "Clearly, different states and regions have different ideas on how to organize the m...

Just for the record...Tier 1 hockey around the country is NOT the same as summer AAA hockey in MN... AAA summer hockey is completely watered down and anyone who wants to play, pretty much can... That sounds like East Coast AAA hockey to me. All year long. Mass has more than 30 AAA programs during t...

To answer the critic's question up front, I have experienced both MN hockey and the USA Hockey Tier 1/2 system. I grew in the state, splitting time between a "B" only community and one of the better hockey towns in the state. My son has played against the Toronto Marlies, the Chicago Missi...

Elliot70 - I've seen you or others post the 11/15 date, but I thought that was when you started playing games. So the weekend of 11/9-11/11 the Jamboree in Bemidji was with a roster that wasn't set against at least some teams that had been playing as a team for a month? Is that a district rule or ha...

I agree with Elliot...nice site but they shouldn't use the scores from each teams website as their primary source. Many teams will show scrimmage games on their site that may not have been 'officially' done especially if they think that they "won". When you have one team playing with thei...

questions

Which Duluth team played in the Hopkins tourney over the weekend? They struggled, losing 2 of 3, only beating Mpls Park in OT. Lakers? Stillwater ties St Cloud tonight, despite the saga, they deserve some mention in the list. I wish we had more reports from outstate, but Bemidji seems too high, GR t...

Does kids maturity play into this decision

Observer85, Blue&Gold, and others: I don't see mentioned the kid's maturity. Beyond simple maturity, the ability to make good decisions when not under the control of a parent. Seems to me to be a real issue. 16-19 year old boys are not usually blessed with great decision making skills. Or are yo...

... THe Boston contingent play for the Middlesex Islanders...their top line tallied over 250 goals last year enroute to a 33-2 season...nice group of players and arguably the top kid on the east coast... Do you have the names of the Islander kid(s)? I should be watching the best 94 MA kids play thi...

Suter not coach of 94 Capitols

Madison Capitols still have good teams but they go to Detriot and Chicago with their summer teams. Blizzard is primarily Northern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan players, no Capitol players, Gary Suter is the coach of the 94's, (youngest son is a 94) and his oldest plays for the Capitols MM team. Sute...
