Wisconsin Badgers 14-15

Currently the Badgers sit at 4-24-4. I understand a down year, a year of getting the young-uns up to speed, but this team is one of the worst in D1 college hockey (according to the Pairwise Rankings) and certainly the worst in the history of the program. I love the game, but don't know much about it...

Centennial Coaching Position

Saw that Centennial is looking for a head coach. Did Aus retire? Did he take another job? Get fired? With such a strong program I expect that they'll be able to land a quality coach.

I've the opportunity to watch a great deal of both Mn and WI high school hockey. Whereas teams like Eau Claire memorial and Wausau West could compete with teams in the top 15 in Mn, they'd likely have their share of losses instead of going 25-2 in WI. I see Wausau West as a team that might beat a Mi...

Hadn't thought about Air Force as a potential member (focusing more on the midwest) but that is a really good idea - another Colorado team to intensify rivalries.

Wisconsin loses to Denver they're done. Should they win (even if they lose to ND) they can still get a bid, but will need some help. BC will need to lose for sure. If they beat Denver and lose to North Dakota, they're still done, unless there is a combination of games going their way. The problem i...

WCHA underclassmen to the pros

Any news and/or guesses on who may be leaving early? Wisconsin's Blake Geoffrion has said he's staying. No word from Jamie McBain, but it wouldn't surprise me to see him in a Hurricanes uniform this season (or, more likely, an Albany River Rats uniform). I would think some Gophers and Sioux will hav...

Looks like the Gophs can still make it, but need some help. There are many scenarios, but Wisconsin losing would help and a Boston College loss helps too.

One of those few Stillwater victories accomplished by a Lechner-coached Pony club. Stillwater always played Hill tough when they were both in the TC Suburban East. Tough game to call. The Ponies will be jacked and at this point in the season, adreneline and heart can play a major role. If they can g...

Earlier I had the Cougs as a legit threat for a state title. Their recent slide has been... severe. Any insight on the problems here? Do they still have what it takes? Are their problems physical? mental? personnel? I haven't had a chance to see them play since December, so I thought someone out the...

Please people!!! I was enjoying this discussion until it turned to the usual public v. private debate. Obviously I was joking about the co-oping of the privates mentioned. I posted this because the two schools co-oping in Wisconsin are relatively large schools and have very successful athletic programs in other sports. It would be very much like Hill co-oping with Cretin to form a track team. Point i...

Wisconsin privates

Just because there's always so much talk / argument about private v. public in Minnesota, I just thought it was interesting to note that private schools in Wisconsin, specifically in the Milwaukee area, are having to co-op to even field teams. They just can't get hockey players to attend their schoo...

Not only has the tournament's MVP Gavin Hartzog not made a DI commitment, he has not made a DIII commitment or a juniors commitment. In fact, he was almost completely unrecruited other than a few DIII schools saying he'd need 2 years of juniors. A few weeks ago he was pretty sure that the Chicago Sh...

WI Transfer Rule in Legal Dispute

Something interesting is happening in WI HS athletics that could set a nationwide precedent and cause changes in the transfer rules. Wisconsin currently employs a transfer rule similar to MN's - if a student transfers (in every scenario - public to public, public to private, private to private) he m...

Interstate competition would be fun, especially between places like MN/ND or MN/WI. I did get to see WI state champ Eau Claire Memorial play this season and I think they could have competed well against top 10 in MN. That said, WI had only 3, maybe 4 teams that could play at that level, whereas in M...

Maybe this is old news already but Wisconsin forward Kyle Turris has signed with Phoenix and is expected to play in their final three games. In my own very amateurish opinion, Kyle is an amazing talent but not ready for the NHL. He got knocked off the puck by just about everyone in the WCHA and made...

I saw both these kids play many times as well. I really thought they would both be very successful in college, especially RJ Anderson.
