Easy to rip Edina for losing. Did anyone rip Hill Murray when the Star Tribune's final article mentioned Lechner pulling a 2nd place medal out of the garbage can. Obviously it is ONLY Edina that doesn't care about "consolation" games and awards. Face it. These are all kids who have one thi...

Cosell was in 1979. Did color for the Championship game. Referred to Edina-East as playing the "Russian" style of hockey. Interviewed Coach Ikola after the game. It was considered a really big deal. He was bombastic and a know-it-all as usual.

WBL 0-18

The announcers keep saying White Bear Lake is 0-18 at the State Tournament. The is accurate when considering the quarterfinals. WBL has won a few games in their state tourney history. Today they should have snapped the quarterfinal streak. They had their chances at the end of regulation and in the o...

Howard Cosell doing color commentary on the TV broadcast in the late 70's. He was as big a name in sports as there was.

Kids all over the state given the days off to attend or simply watch at home. These are "holidays" for scores of people.

There is a waiting list for tickets.

Reggie could be on the list for shutting out a powerful Edina team. Problem is B'Ville hung 5 on him in the Semi's and he gave up 4 more in losing the 3rd place game.

Roseau has clearly done the "most" with the "least". They have proven you don't need 3,000 kids in your school to win championships. That said, I think it is no contest. Edina hands down. 10 titles coming in 5 different decades. Add a record 7 consolation titles and they have acc...

Skipping school for three years in a row. Driving from Milwaukee to Eau Claire to get the games on TV. (Early 70's) Listening to Louie Nanne saying Christoff to Szepanski, Szepanski Scores! Nothing funnier than that lisp. Christoff almost single handedly won the '76 Tourney RJM stunning Edina-East i...
