To me respect is earned not given, courtesy is given but not respect, that you have to earn So you teach a kid to treat a coach/ref/player with courtesy but not respect? Semantics? As a board member dealing with player issues I was more than once told by a parent that their kids coach had not "...

Great teams and great coaches have already talked about PP PK lines and rotation and SHORT BENCH SITUATIONS off the ice, way before it comes into play. Shouldn't come as a surprise to any player or parent. Apparently in never never land all is well but here in boredville it appears to be an issue -...

You forgot the "life's lesson" here and for the life of me I can't find it. I won't be able to "get over it and move on" if I don't get a "life's lesson" lecture.

Evaluators make mistakes all the time. People slide a favor under the table too. It's called life. You mis understood my point. There's nothing u can do about it and be ticked off, verbal and bitter will not help your kid learn life lesson. These kids that get things handed to the will never get it...

Scotty Bowman compared Nick Leddy to Phil Housely. At the moment, I agree with Scotty's assessment, especially since Leddy and Housley both play as OFD, which are known to have average or poor +/- statistics. Housley's stats: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=2374 Considering the ...

Re: Nick Leddy

Incredible, but it was a different time. Leddy has really matured nicely and should be a very solid d-man in the show for a long time. Sorry to rain on bandwagon, but I disagree. When I see highlight reels of goals scored on the Hawks, there is usually a #8 figuring prominently in the reel. He lead...

Re: Nick Leddy

Nick Leddy is making his NHL debut tonight for Chicago. I believe that is the fastest a players has gone from HS Hockey to the NHL in recent memory. Congrats to Nick! Great for Leddy!!!! How incredible was Housley to go directly from high school to the Buffalo Sabres? Incredible, but it was a diffe...

Re: STA

There are 2 classes in swimming, track, cross country, etc. Despite being a top 3 swimming program in the state over the last 15-20 years I've never heard anyone suggest they opt up to AA. Maybe it's cuz people outside of hockey understand that a) logic doesn't somehow change for a specific sport an...

Re: STA

Speaking from my own personal experience: A good percentage of kids (whether they play hockey or any other sport) attending private schools aren't wealthy socialites. There are some, for sure. My parents sacrificed a lot for me to attend HM and we weren't rich by any stretch. A majority of my frien...

Very impressed he was able to see the high sticks and great saves when nobody else could until the replays. Sharp as a tack! I don't know about the tack part but the "there's no way Lakeville South beats Duluth East" comment has me more on the bowling ball sharpness side of things. Game c...

I don't get why so many comments advocate going back to one class. Two classes has no effect whatsoever on the AA tourney. Take the top 4 seeds in A, would any of those have made it to state if the tourney was one class? TRF lost 7-0 to Moorhead, STA lost twice to H-M, Breck would have a tough time...

jdbubbs, I appreciate your willingness to try to make all understand your side. At gopherpucklive.com you started your quest noting your father is Mr Hewitt. Doing that here would probably bring more credibility. Something to consider. Gotta stick up for you on this one Dubbs - doesn't matter if yo...

JDubbs, please give it a rest - this incessant screeching about beating a dead horse is like fingernails on a chalkboard. The courts ruled against D6. Over and done. Explain it to me Ingo. Why can't you and a small group make a difference? If things are as bad as you say they are, and assuming you are a reasonable fellow, there must be lots of people that agree. In our little berg half of our board will be new this year. The current pres is begging for help. Pr...

Just the facts, please. 1. The Centennial head coach is a nonparent coach. The player was not his child. 2. The Centennial coach sought guidance from a district official, not Tim Timm. 3. Based on the enquiry, the coach believed the player was eligible to play in the game against SLP. 4.  No one as...

Re: Game misconduct-ineligable player

In reading all the posts on this topic it is very clear to me that there was a break down in the process or procedure set forth by d10. In the court system when this happens the case is usually thrown out. My questions are: 1. How do you know for sure there was a game misconduct. 2. Did the Refs ca...

You're wrong. The District isn't saying your kid can't play MM hockey. They are saying that you can't play D6 hockey IF you are playing MM. Big difference, they aren't telling parents, as you said, what you can/can't do with your money. Non-profits don't have to accept your money. Players get suspe...

Nothing wrong at all with it. Here's the issue, though: Rule A A Child can either play Association Hockey or MM. They just can't do both. Rule B A Child can either play MM or another summer AAA program. They just can't do both. Bernie enforces Rule B with an iron fist, yet is going to court to over...

What is wrong with MM having a full blown program competing with MN Hockey, WCHA or the NHL? Maybe Bernie will replace Don Cherry on CBC. Nothing wrong at all with it.
