Miska went as well, not too impressive stat wise. Wasn't that impressed with him in 54's either. However, from watching him before, he is so much better than the stats. This is what makes it so tough to figure out if that goalie you are looking at is considered to be a "good" goalie or no...

Seems like a no brainer. parker is ranked in the top 5 at nationals this week. fyi:the Minnesota boys are doing well at 16 nationals. voltin and labosky top 10 in scoring Was Parker the only goalie from MN? If not, how did the other goalie(s) do? Glad to hear Voltin did good. Miska went as well, no...

Makes a person sit back and think about all of the crazy stuff we did as kids and all of the crazy stuff that our own kids do now and thank our lucky stars that there are not more of these headlines, hockey player or nonhockey player. There is not much a person can say other than, wow, I am so sorry...

Not a low blow, just an honest statement.
Made way funnier due to the fact that there is a heavy element of truth to the statement. :)

The problem with comparing team records is that none of these teams have identical schedules. My bet is that the schedule of Little Falls, probably isn't nearly as tough as Duluth East or Eden Prairie. The interesting study (although it would be a masters thesis level job) would be to take some of ...

I just hope he does not predict anything for UND. :) At least BC came back a little bit, hard to believe that it was the same BC team that was on the satellite every once and awhile.

Exactly. But leave for academics and a peaceful school environment? Unheard of. LOL. Besides, how much loyalty do you think the kid is getting in return? I don't think for a minute that his spot isn't gone when the next best thing skates into town or the next big wallet buys the association board. ...

In some instances they're a path to a quality education but, for several, the path is crooked and filled with detours and potholes. and unfortuntely for some, DEAD END. Whether STA moves to AA or stays in A is, in my opinion, irrelevant. I don't like to see so many private schools dominate the state tournaments. The great thing about the tournament is that communities are represented. It's the culmination of years of association work--hours and hours of volunteer ...

Re: The lack of class shown by STA

Now i know many of you want to argue about moving up and who should and shouldnt but i have done some research during the state tourney this year and now the truth should come out. First off, STA has no class what so ever. Thats right from the coaches to the players to the student section to the ch...

I do not think that STA should move up, leave them where they are. They are completely beatable. Sure, it is going to take some work but it can be done. If they were beating the whole pack by 11 - 0 I would say get rid of them but when they have to come back to win.... It goes without saying that yo...

The football anaolgy doesn't work because no matter where you are in Minnesota football starts the same day. It's the one team sport that hasn't become a year around grind, therefore parity is more of a norm. FWIW New Ulm and Breck had a pretty competitive game through 2 periods. If They played Ale...

It looks to me like the games that Hermantown can control the pace of they win. They have some great D and their forwards fore check and back check up a storm so getting to their goalie is tough. The one game that I saw them lose in they could not control the speed and the flow of the game. It was a...

Does Goldfishdude have a chance at dating Jennifer Aniston? Does a polar bear crap in the desert? Lets see. It sounds like Jennifer Aniston will date about anybody so I suppose you have a shot. Marshall 3 I Falls 2 Was a tied game from early in the second period when Marshall came out flat and got flatter and Ifalls scored. After that it was pretty much back and forth with several open nets missed on both ends of the ice, a few dumb penalties and a decent amount of hitting. Marshall got a ...

They seem to have the depth and talent this year to not only make it back to the X, but also make an impact once they get there. I haven't seen them play this year but on paper they look great... Any D1 prospects? Can they get past East? Saw them play earlier this year and if they bring the game li...

The old school part is nice, but the games could be so much better if they didn't have to deal with the unpredictable ice / weather. IMO, would be nice to try moving around to some of the nice rinks in State. BREC in Bemidji, Amsoil in Duluth, Marriucci, etc. Either way it a great day ! I think tha...

The thing that I saw about them was that when they went into the zone everything was at the net. Only a couple of times did I see them go into a mode where they were going to go in and try to "set it up". Lots and lots of bodies (big ones) in front of Hermantown's goalie and always a guy o...

Was at the game tonight and it was not Hermantown's best effort. I am sure the late night and the "hang over" from the EP game did not help either. OTOH, Cloquet was lots of fun to watch tonight. They have a passing game that is a thing of beauty to behold. Several times they got two or th...

I like the list and have seen several of the top 10 and agree. I have to wonder though about how some of them would do if the team they are skating for was not strong? I think that part of the evaluation has to be how much of their percentages are due to very good defensemen who are cutting off angl...

Re: open enrollment

The true effects of open enrollment will not be felt at the High School level for several more years as the current youth hockey open enrollment policy has only been in place less than two years and has not yet run its course. This years Hermantown team is home grown and has not allowed outsiders t...
