Re: All Metro AA Tournament?

Not worried. Not sour grapes either. If Elk River upsets the Spuds, they deserve to go.

All Metro AA Tournament?

If Andover and Elk River win their sections, I'm guessing this will be the first all Metro tourney.

I think it's similar to Alabama's Crimson Tide nickname. EGF's color is green, and the idea is that they are as unstoppable as an ocean wave. Roseau's nickname was the Green Wave when they won their first state title. I don't know when it was changed to the Rams.

Couldn't agree more, Donger. I love when both Warroad and Roseau make it to state just because than there is a possibility that both northern teams can bring home the big trophy. I'd rather see a tophy in Roseau than Edina. I went to the Class A championship several years ago. Warroad was playing R...

A Warroad man wouldn't understand a rivalry with Roseau???? Thats too bad Spud12. I am from one of the towns, and its not Moorhead. The funny thing is I was cheering for your team at state last year. I was glad a section 8 team beat Edina... and did well at state! Oh well, I guess some people just ...

I'm looking forward to this match up. I was at the game on Baudette Bay where the brutal conditions took both teams off their game. Roseau should prevail, but this is the state tourney and anything can and does happen! I'm always a bit of a pessimist, since I grew up in the 1960's and would see my R...

The road to the state title is supposed to be hard. Things fell into place for them at state last year when some of the better teams got upset, but they had already proven themselves by beating Moorhead in the section final.

Go Rams!

Went to the game. Was impressed with the maturity Mr. Morinville showed. He actually stuck around for the handshakes this year!
The Moorhead players showed great sportsmanship by not throwing their runner-up medals this year!

Re: Question about TRF hockey history

I attended the games in TRF yesterday. Since it was my first visit to their new arena, I spent some time looking around before the Buffalo-Roseau game. They have several pictures on the walls and a couple piqued my curiosity. The captions below the pics contained reference to "40 & 8"...

I was at Baudette that day. It was brutal! As we were getting ready to leave Roseau that day, we heard an announcement on the radio that the game had been moved to Memorial in Roseau, so we decided not to go. Then a couple of hours later, we heard that it was back at Baudette again. I am not privy t...

Well, regardless of the exact number of Olympians from each town, it's obvious that Roseau and Warroad both have deep roots in Minnesota's rich hockey tradition. The fact that they are only 20 miles apart and are rivals on so many different fronts makes this a unique situation. I work at Marvin Wind...

SB24, Didn't Henry Boucha play in the Olympics, or was he a member of the USA team in a non Olympic year? I remember seeing him play in a game in TRF with the USA team. I don't remember Hangsleben as an Olympian, but I could be mistaken. I have always associated McKinnon with Williams High School, b...

Hi, I am a new member of this forum, but I have been reading it for some time and get a big kick out of it. I am an alum of Roseau (class of 1971). Even though I never played organized hockey, I have followed the Rams all my life. This thread has caused me to write my first response! As a fan of the...
