I agree that it is a rule and it should be followed and enforced when necessary. What I don't agree with is that someone feels the need to take the time out of their busy day and disect a teams schedule and see if they can find who might be violating the 35 game rule and then calling them out for a...

# of games for Stillwater A Squirts
From information I gathered from the Stillwater Squirt A website: Tourney Games (some listed on calendar, some suspiciously missing) 5 - North Metro Pirate Classic 5 - Edina Invite 4 - Rochester 3 - Duluth Portman (yet to be played) 3 - D2 Playoffs (yet to be played) 3 - Scrimmages (Listed on their ...

Sounds like maybe Stillwater should take a shot at the Fire. They should win as long as their goalie shows up right Flyer? I would put our kids up against any squirt team. 18-2-1 and outskated each of the teams in the games lost or tied (including Elk River). I'm just enjoying an already enjoyable ...

that is nice info . we will see Mounds veiw in district 2 play. sounds like still, m.v, have gotten nothing on white bear. Should be a good match-up - MV and WBL squirts scrimmaged earlier to a tie. Last year they split their two games in league play but WBL lost in first round of the district tour...

Centennial parents said they beat Mounds View in a scrimmage 5 to 1 and Centennial placed 3rd in the Brooklyn Park Tournament That parent must have a short memory and forgot to tell you about how the game with MV went a week earlier - the score was just the opposite and just as lopsided. No rip on ...

As far as the observers that thought the Monopoly gave us a better game than the Deuce or Easton - they aren't parents of the Machine players - both of those games were closer on the scoreboard and and Duece passes it around better than the Monopoly (speaking to the games the Machine played against...

and yes I do realize he's a 00'. Also was surprised to see a non blades team arguably out play the orange. Hey ETS - not trying to jam your comment but you must not have seen the second period of that game (3 - 0 Machine). Monopoly may have had the overall edge in shots but 90% of them came from th...

Re: MONOPOLY HAS NO CLASS!!
2 best players on the Monopoly were renta players and they still lost to the Orange 10-0 in 2 games!! Monopoly coach making fun of the Machine kids with his suit was a great move - nothing but class from the coach of the Monoply/Miracle/Lavurne combination!! Renta player from Lavurne was fun to wat...

To start this off, I have a player on a Non-Alliance team. The other teams will be recruited from out of the metro area, other states and Canada in the hope to attract top teams back into our Minnesota tournaments. These quality teams have quit coming to Minnesota over the past few years as a resul...

Hand-me-ups?
Hey "Haute hockeymom" - FYI - since when is a player that left a certain team of their own accord (let's say the Machine, Blades or Deuce) called a "hand-me-down"? So what would you call a kid that was offered a spot on one of those teams but refused and went with the Icemen inst...

Another FYI everyone. The Mix team was made up of roughly seven Icemen kids, three or four Deuce kids, two Miracle kids and one from the LSS (well maybe exactly). You can draw your own conclusions from this about the number of kids that will be returning to the Icemen for next year after the tryouts...

RR- no doubt, I wasn't at the tryout last night.( I did hear from some parents that were though) Nonetheless, I had no intention of disparaging any kids and that is why I spoke in general terms. With that, the top tier players on the AAA teams that wasmentionedin the early post ( Blades, Machine, S...

The wise man was not born wise, he became wise by being foolish first, and then listening to those who had wisdom. Do you know why they teach our children history in school and not future? I'll let you answer that yourself! Have a great day ! :D They teach history so they can learn from it, adapt f...

It seems like everyone likes to look at past history to support their view. The problem is that it is just that - past history! Times have changed, kids are developing earlier, kids are GROWING UP earlier. 20 years ago kids didn't even skate in the summer. 10 years ago AAA programs were just getting...

Re: Fair Play at A Squirts
How many 9 yr olds are taking accelerated math and English? Also believe me.... There is plenty of time to prepare for the real world after 3rd grade. however; PWA and all bantams can be coached with more of the reward for effort approach. IMO. I respect your view! I would agree that there a...

Re: Fair Play at A Squirts
You, coach Jaques, seem to think one should apply the same coaching strategies at the A squirt level that the A bantam coach applies in the state tournament. Most of us see that as silly thinking. Go Wild. What's "silly" about preparing kids for the real world and how it's going to be dow...

Re: Fair Play at A Squirts
hsticks - you are missing a big point. You said, " The topic of the thread is fair play at the "A" level" - wrong, the poster was talking about SQUIRTs. That is the difference. The experienced coaches recognizes that it is not as dire for the 9 and 10 year old, as you seem to th...

Re: Fair play!
If you can't take what you learned in practice and transfer that into game situations where is the development? You have to have game development to make the practice development worthwhile or else you are not developing the complete player. Especially at the Squirt and Pee Wee level. True - but yo...

Re: Fair play!
The topic was squirt A the difference between top and bottom should not be as significant as you described. attitude and effort, and as Dmom states, confidence does play such a large part especially at this age in how their minds absorb and utilize experiences at this time frame of growth (no forma...

Fair play!
Practice is for development - games are for doing what it takes to win. With the relative small amount of games teams get in the association season does it really matter if everyone plays an even amount? Tell me if I'm wrong but isn't the point of a game to do your best to WIN? Here's exactly where...
