I was one who thought black was the better team early in the year, and still believe that was true. The fact is orange stepped up and got better every game, while black slowly declined throughout the season. Watching both teams it is clear to me that orange had superior coaching. I talked to a coupl...

Can't figure out why WBL Black refuses to cover anyone in front of their own net. It's almost like they want their goalie to fail. Has to be coaching, wingers are always hanging out by the blue line. It's too bad because they have alot of talent that's being wasted. They were a better team at the st...

Hey Boogs24, I think maybe you got wbl orange and black confused. Wbl black is for sure the stronger team, and #6 on black is pretty good, don't think #6 on orange is any better than average.

A natural hat trick is all 3 goals in one period. I can't believe no one else was able to answer this until now.

I would disagree. When I was a young player, Ken Yackels power skating 1 week clinic was unbelievable. I think the difference today is that most of the people running these camps are more interested in cashing the checks than producing results. I've witnessed too many instances at these camps where ...

heartland hockey camp

anyone have any info/opinions on steve jensens heartland hockey camp? It seems to me that most of the week long camps provide the kids with a lot of fun, but produce little improvement on their skills.

Would we be making such a big deal out of this if it was a boys game? That is certainly a lot of penalties for one game, but not unheard of. I'm sure there are many boys games at that age group putting up similar penalty numbers. It's hockey, we all know there are going to be games like that from ti...

It's not that Blake is too big and strong, it's that they are just better. It is mind boggling why they do not have an A team. I personally don't think they should even have a team, I mean come on, these kids all live in some city, play for your community. But this year at the B1B level they are the...

hey inthestands, I don't know if you've ever played the game, but sometimes it is next to impossible to stop your full speed momentum when an opponent turns at the last moment. No one wants to see kids get injured, but blaming the checker regardless of circumstance isn't right. We teach kids defensi...

I may have exagerated just a bit, but there are several players on the wbl b2 team that got hosed in tryouts and should probably be playing b1. I'm sure the b1 teams could beat them, but it would be close.

Played with Brian Bonin since clinic, all the way through high school. He was always head and shoulders above everyone else we ever played. He was better than most kids 2-3 years older since he started.

No, it's too much of a judgement call. Most of the checking behind that I see happening is actually the fault of the player being checked. Coaches need to teach kids to not leave themselves vulnerable to this along the boards. There's not much a player can do to stop when his opponent turns his back...

Hey govs93, your team is playing a bunch of patsies. Calm down, there's no need to update us every 30 seconds. I don't think there was anyone who really wondered who would win this game.

Overtime? Is that standard in your district? In district 2 we never see overtime, in fact many games end early cuz the hour of ice is up. Great coaches strategy, just call a time out near the end of a tight game if the other team is pressing...

One more thing I forgot. By the pee wee level there should be tag ups allowed on off sides. Not having this rule causes way too many whistles, and more importantly puts the defensemen in a horrible position. Most of the time, after a team has spent a lot of time and energy working their forecheck an...

Fair play points need to go. Having to serve your time in the sin bin with the opponent on the power play is the punishment. If a team is good enough to win while still taking penalties, more credit to them. Sometimes taking a few smart penalties during a game is the right thing to do. There is such...
