EP Red - 1
Minnetonka - 0

Another great BB1 D6 league game. EP red scored a 1st period goal and made it hold up.

It was a great game! Dropped the boy off at his practice and was thoroughly entertained in Victoria for no cost....and I wasn't at Floyds

Goal came on a powerplay situation

Both teams skated their butts off and was a shame that someone had to lose. Both goalies played very well and Tonka's had a couple of very difficult saves to help keep the team in the game.

Boy, Ep red still transitions on turnovers quicker than most teams I have seen.

This isn't the Tonka team we saw earlier in the year

I know red made theirs because I think they only had one penalty called on them

Tonka I think made theirs but it was close - I think they had to try to kill 5 or 6 penalties

Im pretty sure Tonka will get a point. And I think Red lost theirs. They had like 4 penalties at the beginning of the game. I think one checking from behind, and one or 2 mouthgaurd penalties. Has anyone seen latest rankings?

Well, we have one vote for them getting it because they had one penalty, and one said they lost it because they got 4 penalties in the first period and one of them was a checking from behind. I guess I don't need to know. Thanks anyway.

EP Red did get their Fair Play point, they did not have any checking from behind penalties.

My mistake. I know they had at least 1 10 minute major, maybe it was a mouthgaurd???

Technical points . . .

10 minute penalties are misconducts, not majors.
A mouthguard penalty would be a 10-minute misconduct for equipment.
Equipment violations only count as 2 minutes against the fair play point system. Other misconducts count full.

So, they could have had a 10-minute misconduct for a mouthguard violation and still had plenty of minutes to spare on their FP amount.

2/3 morning scrimmage:
EP Red 4
Blake 2
EP Red scored on 1st shift of game and didn't look back; Blake played hard and took it to EP Red during latter half of 2nd and 3rd period. Great game to watch.

Oh my .....is right!

no Barney point for Chaska, Edina got theirs

I though the referee crew did an extremely good job except for a 10 minute misconduct for one of the Chaska players calling an Edina player a "spase" even without it, a roughing penalty called with 9 seconds left in the game would have taken the HEP point away.

Chaska shared the puck very well tonight and made that one extra pass on some plays that counted for about 4 of their goals.

The coaches addressed it big time after the game. Losing that hep point could make the difference in seeding by a couple of places. Sometimes young men get caught up in smack rather than tact (as do we parents do from time to time  - not this game though)

From the weekend:

Wayzata Gold 2
Maple Grove 1

This MG team is enigmatic. Its going to be a dog fight for the final regional seed in D3 playoffs.

Same old story with MG this year.. Troubles putting the puck in the net and very inconsistent play.

The Wayzata Gold game was a strange game in the fact that Mg had 15 penalties and played shorthanded almost all of the 3rd period and most of the game but still out shot Wayzata 24-17 in the game.

Just an overall ugly performance by MG.

I agree with ShootPassScore it will come down to MG and Gold for the final region spot and these teams have played three 2-1 games two going the way of MG.

Its tough to correct the inability to put the puck in the net, you either have goal scorers or you dont. I feel it will be the achilles heel of an overall very talented MG team.

C-spondant-Very good overall evaluation of the MG v Gold game. MG had chances, lots of chances, good chances to avail. Its not like they need shooting practice either. They just were unlucky.

It would be easy to let that be a focal point and an excuse. Got to keep digging, MG does have talent and plays the game pretty well overall should be a great D3 playin semifinal.
