My point is AA will truly be top level teams. The A level will be the old B1 level. So, my hope is MNHockey FORCES AA associations to field A level teams also. PLUS, I think smaller associations that formerly had an A and B1 team might now field two A teams.

So there might only be 30-50 AA teams, but maybe 100-120 A teams. That will be a win-win for the elite AA programs and will benefit the A programs. Plus they will all be classified as "A" level teams and can schedule games AA vs. A also.

HOWEVER, I know it will not be done "right" and will be fouled up so bad it will set MN back 10 years!
Why do I even try????

What happens when an association has a great first 16 and fall way off in talent after that? They still have to field both AA and A teams? How do you come up with this crap?? Small associations having two A teams??

Please tell me this guy is not on the MNH board.. [-o<

I think you are speaking exactly to the problem that has been created. While the AA-A model might be needed regardless, I know too many smaller associations field A level teams without the talent needed to compete at the A level. In other words, they are B teams playing at the A level because the coaches, parents, or association members will not put their ego's aside.

I don't think the AA-A proposal will solve any problems as the underlying problem is too many programs will continue to play at the wrong level for the ability and depth of their players. Throw them to the wolves, they'll get better just trying to survive. (Or quit)

Ask around the summer AAA rinks. Talk to the AAA parents. Those parents of top level talent view other AAA programs as "wannbe's". They have to name their teams Elite and play in Invite Only tournaments to distance themselves from AAA teams that have B ability level.

The egos of parents will never be removed from youth sports. Couple that will endless amounts of money thrown at their kid's sports.[/quote]

Bo: This was my May 4th post. I believe one of my first on the topic?

Read it carefully. Then see where I've vasilated?

You have remained consistent. Your kid is a B player and your ego hates it. Tell everyone he plays AAA hockey. Nobody really cares.
