Not the worst place ever to play but maybe the biggest dissapointment i ever had as a player. We had a scrimmage set up there when I was in peewees or bantams and i was all but counting down the days till i finally got to play there. When we played there though the only lights on in the arena were the ones lighting up the rink. So the maroon seats were basically black and any time a puck was deflected in the air it was anyones guess as to where it was going to land. It blended in with those seats like you would never believe! Not easy for a blue liner thats for sure

Wakota got rid of those a short time ago. They're now white. The ice there is harder than in the past, and new boards were installed 1 or 2 seasons ago. Defnitely a fun rink to be in now that you play in an old building but on essentially a brand new rink.

2. Old Minnetonka bubble: Alaska, with plywood
3. Moundsview: Cold, dark boards are three feet thick. Ref room in lobby.
4. Old Buffalo: Cold, bad ice, phone booth locker rooms with old lazy boys and couches
5. Osseo West
6. Old Breck: No hockey rink should be yellow
7. Northfield: Dump with non OSHA approved Zamboni
8. Sauk Rapids: Before remodel, just plain brual
9. Hopkins
10. Columbia
yes.. windom is quite ridiculous... i remember on numerous occasion while playing there that there were birds in the rafters during games.. hay and such on the outsides of the boards... locker rooms not nearly big enough for a team.. terrible time there

I noticed someone dropped Hallock...but Hallock is a palace compared to the arena in Red Lake Falls, unless there has been drastic changes there in the past 10 years or so.

Red Lake Falls has added a new addition with 4 locker rooms and a weight rooms, and bathroom, so i would say its better then Hallock with the small glass in Hallock, and tiny benches.

I played in the early 80's and the old rink in Warroad, the winter sports rink in Crookston, and the old rink in Grafton,ND and Thief River Falls downtown rink were the worst. I coach youth hockey now and thay don't even play youth games there any more. We played HS hockey there.

Northfield takes the cake here.. cement behind the boards on half the rink with no give to them at all.. the benches are devided and it is cooold!!

I've heard that Proctor's rink is horrible.
I remember we were at Lily Lake a couple of times maybe 3 years ago in Pee Wees. I remember thinking "What the hell is this place?"

It reminds me of a rink the Soviet Union would have built. Our boys were waiting to go on, there was this men's team finishing up and this dude watching the men's game was having a total meltdown, the cops actually showed up. Our boys had to witness that

Everytime we go to Stillwater something weird happens
At least those stillwater kids put shoes on in the winter :) :)

tricky eh. jp parise designed those locker rooms for that reason. teams hate it. theyre psyched out before the game even begins.
also.. theres two rows of benches. i have no idea what your talking about... small benches.. haha
ha. its been a few years since ive been there. but when i played there i remember sitting in the first row of benches and having your knees touch the boards.
Yeah.. its a little cramped. Someone jumps the board to get on the bench, you better believe you're gonna get nailed.
