As for the Govs v. Pioneer spat, being a Catholic St. Paul guy, I pull for 'em both. Must, however, point out some history to the Pioneer:
St. Paul Johnson - 22 appearances, 4 State Champs, 3 Runners Up, 3 Thirds, 2 Consolation.
Hill Murray - 21 apps, 2 State Champs, 6 Runners Up, 2 Thirds, 2 Consolation.
Great records, both. Ironically, the Govs were among the 'Pioneers' of the greatness that is the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament. Honor your elders, son.
Both have tremendous histories but a major difference is HM is still revelant to high school hockey & Johnson is not. I enjoy playing with Govs because we are both former eastsiders & that what eastsiders do. When it's all said & done, it's all good.
As far as being referred to as "son", I'm way too old to be called that, but thanks.
Litch/DC vs Willmar is HUGE...they play for The Cream Can Traveling Trophy....These games are crazy....Cops,Fights,Dead Animals of all kinds thrown on the ice,Live Animals thrown on the ice,"Adult Items" thrown on the ice, entire student sections being removed from the arena,etc,etc.......
you mean woodbury dosen't likes parks, why? what did any park do to them
park = cottage grove. its not really a competitive rivalry (since woodbury always lays the smackdown), but more of a brutal hatred between the schools themselves haha. pretty much every game now the students are shuffled out at separate ends of the arena.

If you read this thread people talk about a fan getting beat within inches of his life, people needing police escorts out of rinks, etc. Then read your account a few posts up, that pretty much sums up the trashy part.
Trashy? More like kids being kids....It may be a bit over the line, but its pretty funny to see mice and chickens running around on the ice after a goal or spray painted animals in the other teams colors thrown onto the ice...Its part of THIS rivalry....sorry its not up to your standards....
I am shocked to not see many people going with Rapids and Greenway. I mean as of lately the games have not been close but are still filled with intense atmosphere. Speaking of this rivalry does anyone have the link to the article about this rivalry that was wrote in either the Star Tribune or the Pioneer Press a few years back?

Cruelty to animals is "kids being kids"
I don't think so

Tough to call it a great rivalry when the girls teams joined together as one.

WARROAD VS. ROSEAU is still king of the hill in this department. Tell me the rest of the State wasn't glued to FSN when they played earlier this year.
no question this game is it. The two towns dont like eachother when it comes to hockey however they do respect each other. The crowds are loud and always sell out, even when a team is down the other puts up a good fight. Yes its not always close but they always raise the level of play against each other. Its the most classy and best rival in the state
