I guess the Tigers aren't the only people that think the drive from Hutch to Luverne is to long. The soft radio crew from Luverne will not be making the trip tonight.
Anyone know if a Hutch crew will be steaming the game tonight?

Enrollment info for 3A
New Ulm Coop: 1279
(New Ulm schools alone: 858)
Marshall Coop: 1186
Fairmont Coop: 1179
Litch-DC Coop: 1072
Willmar: 973
Hutchinson: 797
Morris-Benson Coop: 794
Windom Coop: 772
Worthington Coop: 670
Redwood Coop: 652
Luverne Coop: 470
Draw your own conclusions as to why so many are pulling for Luverne. Having coached against these boys you gain respect & hope that it can be duplicated in more communities throughout the SW part of the State. Their success beyond this section will have an effect on other associations in 3A other than Luverne because it will become if Luverne can do it being the smallest, why can't we.

I'll buy the paved road thing - even the indoor plumbing - but you can't tell me they have the internet out there!CherryPicker99 wrote:I guess the Tigers aren't the only people that think the drive from Hutch to Luverne is to long. Most can get behind and root for the underdog. I think registration numbers at the youth level are much more important than the enrollment number. For instance no dig on Fairmont but they probably have the lowest registration numbers at the youth level but have one of the higher enrollments. Which would indicate poor recruitment. Need to obtain hockey players if you wanna develop them. Developing them is a whole issue in itself. If one could strictly look at registration numbers it is probably a pretty decent indicator of who is going to be competitive and who will not. Obviously if you have high numbers and no results poor development. Low numbers and good results good development.new2coachin wrote:Enrollment info for 3A

Would Luverne making it to state help out SW MN Hockey.. Don't know.. Marshall made it last year but have we or are we going to see any residual effects in SW MN in terms of hockey and competitiveness. I would certainly believe it would help Luverne's program out if it made state but as for the surrounding communities not so sure about that. What would really help IMO would be if SW MN could get some really competitive rivalries going. I remember back in the day when Willmar/Litch had some intense rivalries going and Litch/Hutch certainly has had some really intense rivalry games. Gotta have good teams though with a following. Just imagine if Marshall, Windom or Fairmont had at least a top 20 team in Class A.. If everyone gave as much effort as they do on this board and turned that effort to supporting their 3A Hockey program 3A would be as competitive as heck..

I don't have a magic crystal ball to tell you the result of tonight's game, like some do. But i do know that its going to come down to a couple of things.
I think goaltending will be the number one story on sportscenter after the game.
After that, Luverne minimizing turnovers that result in odd man rushes will be important.
If Hutch converts their chances, and gets good goaltending play they should win.
If Luverne attacks, and finishes chances, hutch cant keep up with Luverne's Firepower.
I guess we will find out if cowger can prove his place amongst the top forwards in the section.

ROLLCARDSROLL!!!!
Wow, very impressive so far. I have no dog in this fight but I have to admit that I've read the 3A thread every day for the last 3 months just for the drama. Never posted until tonight though. As far as Luverne goes, just like the Beatles said, "I'm a Believer." It would be Fantastic to see this team go to State and do something. It's been a great story so far and I hope it continues.

The overrated cards from Luverne put it on the tigers in a 7-1 final.
32/19 shots in favor of Luverne.
Luverne will see hutch on Saturday in gustavus, unless campion has something to say about it.....
Providence being the only possible challenge. New Ulm killed this squad a couple weeks ago.
Luverne will be the ****heavy favorite**** until trout spews his filth on here about how they might get trapped.
