Who cares if he made 30 saves that still is a lot of shots given up by the defense an excellent offensive team such as LF would have had even more shots. He also let in 4 goals, he better play the best game of his season on tues otherwise wadena will be headed home.

The Iceman
Little Falls 2005 Section 4A Champs

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... stice16 at: 2/19/05 5:09 pm

although they had 30 shots, and wadena did not play the best defensively, a lot of those shots came from the outside...and i doubt little falls would've scored more goals with outside shots. i have a feeling on tuesday we will see a real showdown between the top two teams. good luck to both.

I thought Crookston was garbage hockey, but section 4 is worse. The winner of section 4a should goto the JV state tourney.

section 4a

Neu (is that how it is???) anyway, the sophomore goalie for Wadena will probably be the difference in Tuesday's game. He was the difference in Friday's game along with Fergus' goalie situation, a little on that: Fergus played 4 goalies, no started four goalie's this year, now, not deciding who is going to play or creating competition is great, however, last night, the shots:38-17 FF, shows what it likely did, Swendson for Fergus was under 66 % last night, Neu had 34 saves, for a SOPHOMORE.
Enough of that, just interesting in that gaem and teh season for Fergus, ..........I think this kid could, and should go to state. He is only a sophomore, but in two games against Fergus this year, he is the difference, people will notice, and good things will happen, look where it is now. I'm picking a great game on Tuesday night, that will probably end up like last night with these kids fighting till the end, both teams. The difference in this year's Wadena team and last year is that this year's has diversity in their record, not a detriment....good luck...will be back with a prediction........

For what its worth here is my take on the upcoming 4A Chapionship game. Both teams know each other well, strengths and weaknesses. If LF is going to win this game their defense needs to step up and contain Postell, Pettit and the rest of the Wolverines. They did a good job handling Wadena's scoring threats in the first two meetings and will need to step up Tues. LF offense needs to keep on doing what they do best, score lots of goals. The Flyers also need to keep their powerplay going and make Wadena pay when they draw a penalty. If Wadena is going to win they have to keep LF's offense from exploding and keep them at 3 or less goals. Wadena has to match LF's scoring and cannot afford to get behind especially going into the third period. Speaking of the third period Wadena has to have something left in their tank, I don't think that will be as problem considering whats on the line but when you only play two lines the whole game it has to be a concern. One of Wadena's strengths has been their powerplay, LF shut it down the first two games and Wadena needs to find a way to make it work. Both teams have to avoid stupid penalties. I don't see either team having a let down or playing a poor game. Tues.'s game should be a fast paced match-up and allot of fun to watch. The fact that LF won the first two meetings means nothing. Obviouly I'm biased but my prediction is LF 5 Wadena 3. LFs just has to much speed and offense to contain for all three periods. If Wadena wins I'll be at the Excel cheering them on just like last year. Good luck to all you seniors. GO FLYERS

i think that your standings are off a little but the Wadena team is ready and always will be ready to play LF in the playoffs they have proven themselves to be a better team than FF when every one else thought they were going to lose and i think that Wadena is going to take it to LF hard core. no team wants to be beat by the same team three times in a row by the same team. This game is going to be a great game but my prediction is that it will be a 1 point game but i think that wadena is going to beat LF and go to state back to back apperances to state but LF is going to go to state for like the next 2-3 years unless FF gets it into a realy big year to stop them i'd take postell over licktieg any day of the year. i think LF WDC in the third or in OT

good post jiggs i think you have most of the game pegged.Didnt mention the heart of each team. Something that cant be measured or predicted. Come game time itll show and be a factor. I know this, wadena will not be under estimating small falls. They have a nice club. Great coaching, good luck teams!

peterjigs,
you would rather have the team that has the advantage of more hooking, holding and interference and not to mention a few slewfoots in the corner and front of the net, change of possession, negated scoring opportunities and finally potential for injury win the game for the sake of "letting them play"? i too was at the game and thought the refs in the second game were going to decide the game by calling nothing.

No thats not what I meant. Legitimate calls need to be made and the refs in the FF/Wadena game did let to much go. What I like to see is refs that stay away from the chicken s--t calls and let the kids play. Everyone wants to see a hockey game not a girl scout skate around. I think what were looking for is a happy medium. I don't know where this hooking crap started and you see allot of kids do it. This type of game is common in the metro area and I suppose the exposure that out state players have through select teams and other leagues the more they learn these tactics. Just my opinion.

As I said b4 the game, if FF stays out of the box they win. Well, they didn't...so they lost. But I'm still disappointed on how the game was decided. A horse $#!t slashing call w/ about 4 min. left. The refs called the game pretty even, but I feel that they took the game out of the kids hands.

I also don't think WDC is the better team. Look at the shots! something like 34-17. FF deserved better, but that's the way it falls. It was a great game to watch, and fergus left everything they had on the ice. I couldn't be prouder of them.

Good look to both teams on Tues. and I hope the winner of 4a represents the section better then WDC did last year. If it's LF don't let the surroundings get to you, just go out and play your game. If it's WDC you'll have a chance to redeem yourselves, and you'll know what to expect.

FF-You guys had a great season and have NOTHING to hang your heads about. Good luck to the SR's that are moving on to other things next year, and for the rest of the team let it burn a little bit and then get back to work. You guys know what you have to do to get back to state.

fivehole from where i sat that slash was somewhat nasty 2 handed and all, was a bad time to get the call but an even worse time for the fergus player to do it, wasnt saving a shot on an empty net or anything, I think fergus had a great team that night and all season, but because they out shoot wadena doesnt make them the better team. Wadenas system lets you shoot from the outside, when you have a big goalie like they do theres not alot to shoot for out wide or from the points. They give you those shots. Little falls doesnt take them against wadena they move in for the snipper shots, a bigger goalies weak spot. Again the four man low takes that space away. Fergus will be a contender and a better team than wadena in the near future but not this year. good luck all

I don't know for sure Pucks, but I'm thinking us old guys better stay home Tuesday nite. If we have a repeat of the emotional highs and lows of Fridays game, I don't think my ticker can take much more.

slashing penalty

Post by fiveholeshooter »

We must not have been looking at the same penalty. The one that I saw was Cody Koski, #19, reaching in to poke at a rebound and the goalie trying to cover the puck at the same time. What I saw was a 1-handed poke at the goalie, hardly nasty or two-handed. But, maybe I was looking at the wrong thing.

Flyers by atleast three, with festlers getting four plus. good luck keeping lickteig down. well you get the point, too much offense and a good goalie in Kluver to lose, unless they don't show up. I agree they must show up and play well, but I don't see that as a problem, and I see wadena as just another Deer in the headlights. When you hit them hard, it's all over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Flyers - take this game and take this section !! You deserve it!!!
