Dude, that is the definition of conspiracy. You're contending that MSHSL officials are conspiring to avoid naming who the bottom seeds are.slacsap wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 11:46 amI don't think there is any conspiracy. I think the coaches vote 1-8, but the MSHSL only announces seeds 1-5 so that none of the teams is labeled as the "bottom" seed. That is the explanation which the MSHSL has given in the past for only seeding 1-5 and there would be some logic to it if not for the fact that they don't use the same rationale for sections.East Side Pioneer Guy wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 11:22 amAny crime needs a motive. What would be the motive here? What does the MSHSL have to gain by pitting Tonka against Hill as opposed to Cretin? I just don't see it. I just don't see why they would care enough to bother. Any effect on ticket sales or TV ratings is marginal at best and questionable at worst.
Who has anything to gain by this conspiracy? And couldn't they just gain that by seeding 1-8?

Yes Tonka is the favorite . But let’s not forget it took em two OTs to beat a young Chan team in sections and who beat them earlier
First they gotta get by a crafty tourney coach Lechner with a much healthier squad than when they played in January , and goalie playing well
Then they gotta get by the state champs with first line of 200 +- pts that just smoked Deast on the road
Then face likely Edina or MG in finals , both playing well and capable of a win even if it might be termed an upset
So Yes Tonka favored , but perhaps not by as much as some might think

I'm cheering for the team with
1. Least amount of recruits
2. The team with the most amount of kids that left High School early for juniors (just so the kids playing junior hockey will be kicking themselves for leaving early)
So I'm thinking that is Maple Grove and Edina

My Hill Murray education was every bit as good as yours, so I know what a conspiracy is. I'm not alleging anything. the MSHSL has stated publicly that they only seed 1-5 to avoid labeling a team as the bottom seed. I think that is a stupid rationale since they announce which teams or seeded 8 or 9 or whatever in sections.East Side Pioneer Guy wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 11:57 amDude, that is the definition of conspiracy. Agreed that not seeding 1-8 is ridiculous.

Gotta admit, it does often feel like the "unseeded" teams perfectly fall into line of what they would be if they did seed them 6 thru 8. Way more often than not it feels that way. But also agree I don't see that huge of a motive to not just say that except for them not wanting to hurt kids feelings. Which I admit is ridiculous but I wouldn't put anything with poor logic past the mshslslacsap wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 1:17 pmMy Hill Murray education was every bit as good as yours, so I know what a conspiracy is.
