7A Playoff Recap #1

Section 7A- #1 seed Hermantown blew out #8 seed North Shore as Senior Wyatt Carlson was able to collect his 100th career point in the win and the Hawks moved into the 7A semifinals. They will face #4 seed Hibbing who was able to shutout #5 seed Proctor as Blue Jackets goalie Senior Brayden Boyer stopped all 29 shots he faced in the 2-0 win. In the bottom part of the 7A bracket #2 seed Rock Ridge jumped out to a big first period lead and never looked back in their win over #7 seed International Falls. Wolverines Sophomore Grady Dimberio led the way with a 2 goal night and they will move on to play the Hunters. #3 seed Duluth Denfeld made quick work of #6 seed Greenway as star Senior Andrew Larson had a big 5 point effort (3 goals and 2 assists) to lead the charge to the 7A Quarterfinal win.

Section 7A Playoffs Recaps
#1 seed Hermantown 4 #4 Hibbing 2

#1 seed Hermantown survived a serious upset scare from an upset minded #4 seed Hibbing. The Hawks struggled to solve the defensive game plan by Hibbing who played the trap and clogged up lanes and frustrated Hermantown throughout the night. Hibbing got an outstanding effort from goaltender Senior Brayden Boyer as he stopped 41 of the 44 Hawk shots. The game seemed to be heading to overtime but it was third line Senior Aaron Evjen who played the hero, scoring the game winner, his 2nd of the night, with just 15 seconds left in regulation. The win sends the Hawks to the Section 7A Final where they will look to defend their 7A title.

#2 seed Rock Ridge 12 #3 seed Duluth Denfeld 1
#2 seed Rock Ridge turned a tight 1-1 game with #3 seed Duluth Denfeld into a rout when they scored 5 goals in the 2nd period and 12 unanswered goals in the game, The Hunters did lead the game 1-0 in the 1st period but it was all Rock Ridge after that. The Wolverines balanced offensive attack was led by Junior Kasey Lamppa who had a hat trick and they cruised into the 7A Final. They will now get another chance at mighty Hawks on Wednesday night with a trip to State on the line.
