Re: recruiting..

I thought we all agreed to not discuss this topic anymore? or not....Frankly, EastHockeyPuck's reply was too defensive and in fact brought the dreaded recruit debate back to life in this thread. No need really, was there? It is what it is...some kids transfer on their own and others transfer with a little help...in every school district.

Do we really wanna get into recruiting? The top 2 lines should be pretty even as far as quality goes, neither one sticking out more than the other. Let me get this straight.

East & CEC are solid for two lines and evenly matched? So in this case it woud kind of depend on goalies right? Well, I think we know who the better one is between Leis and Ellingson.. No offense to Leis, he's a good goalie.

and I don't recall you ever saying that ER could compete for the title. I only remember you saying they are going to state for sure?

hockeywild,
Yep, Leis is a good goalie WITH good size. Ellingson has more varsity experience and has been given more opportunity outside of the high school experience. Give Ben some decent varsity time this year and I think more will be talking about him instead of just Reid.

Of course, I believe there are a few goalies out there who are being left out of the talk, but they aren't in the AA division, so I shouldn't be surprised. Keep your eyes and ears open on some of the smaller school's netminders. Some very good talent.....and no, I am not going to name names ...let tryouts take their course.

So, when a person can't argue on the merits, they start changing the other person's name in an attempt to insult?

Neat.

elmnhockeyscout, you're fairly new here. Empire has had some good takes. He supports his team and he's got a pretty good team to support there (hopefully not too good..heh heh). He might be a little "on the edge" at times, but he's pretty much followed the Board rules. What, you get tired of butting heads with Virginia fans so now you're taking on the Elks' faithful? Good choice.

Lee
____________
Message Board arsonist since 2005

Well, if i recall Empire strikes back referred to me as elementary hockey scout, so you have nothing to support that, and with his name, i just named him queen because i didn't think he was worth being called empire, and with strikes back, i'm still waiting... i can reply on whatever team i please "east hockey", and if you don't like my replies, which are within the forum rules, you shouldn't come on here.

Not that it matters to all of you, but I think it helped me when I was growing up, my grandmother gave me a pearl of wisdom. And, since there are many young people reading this board - it might be appropriate.

That being, remember that only a fool will argue with a fool.

That is not taking sides in any of the arguments (sometimes confused with a spirited discussion) on this board.
Quote:
Why are you guys defensive about a comment on open enrollment?

I'll turn it around and re-ask the question. Why then do you keep finding it necessary to bring it up? You also did this with AHA until you were challenged on your comments about Trebil. The topic had nothing to do with open enrollment until you went there.

Quote:
As an Administrator are you insisting that people must adhere to the "party line"?

Not sure what this party line is you're referring to. I've always allowed discussion of open enrollment. But when someone interjects it in the manner you did (and let's not fool anyone here, JLS; you don't like open enrollment and I've got a pretty good idea you don't like East. Not that this should matter to any East fan because they can easily blow it off as Sour Grapes Whining), then expect someone to take offense.

Ironically, nothing is ever mentioned of certain other schools student transfers. East might have had them from out-of-state, but at least one 7AA school has had one from out-of-country. :cough: Petrov :cough:

Quote:
I guess only the opinions and the mantra that open enrollment is a good thing are becoming the acceptable norm on this board?

Yeah, right. Had that been the case, I would've called your initial post a troll (which I'm not convinced it wasn't considering how you slid that transfer comment in there...you pretty much knew someone would take you on over it) and deleted it.

On the other hand, I suppose I'd be a little upset if a school which had ended my school's season five times in the past decade had transfer students playing for them. I'd be looking for an explanation for why that is. Must be their transfers. Had nothing to do with their youth program being stronger and their coaching staff having better success at taking that talent and getting them to Just Win, Baby.

Lee
____________
Message Board arsonist since 2005
