There is so much wrong here I won't bother much except to say watching A tourney is great fun and some great hockey.kniven wrote:Interesting. AD's can actively recruit at Blake. Sounds more interesting working for a private. It would be like working for a Div 1 school recruiting players. There aren't many privates in A anymore. Hermantown the only serious contender year in and year out in A. With Blake and the Hawks both eventually in AA, what school(s) will rise to the top? Hibbing. Laverne. Would be fun to watch A state tournament again.blueblood wrote:Farmington coach is now the Assistant AD and head hockey coach at Blake.
2016-17 top teams?
Moderators: Mitch Hawker, east hockey, karl(east)

Re: Section predictions
It is fun and great hockey. But when Hermantown or Breck playing, it bores me personally. Nothing fun seeing a team consistently bullying smaller single A programs. I am probably in the minority here, but that's just me. Great A hockey though! Much respect for them all... Including the Hawks. I know players/coaches in the program. A juggernaut program there in Hermantown.blueline8 wrote:There is so much wrong here I won't bother much except to say watching A tourney is great fun and some great hockey.kniven wrote:Interesting. Re: section finals
Usually the big public schools lose a good amount to privates. If you look at Benilde the last few years they have like 5 kids from edina, and what seems like 10 kids from Wayzata each year. With the holy family coach doing so much off season work with kids at velocity at Braemar, you will probably start seeing more edina kids ending up out therekniven wrote:Thanks Blue. Hey! Edina loosing players to privates. Up north here, I don't here about big public powers loosing players to privates. Is this more common than I think? My thoughts were generally the smaller/struggling programs loose players all the time and not the big public powerhouses. Is that Farmington that lost their coach? Was it an ugly divorce ?blueblood wrote:kniven:
Have seen many of these teams this summer at PL and Edina tournaments. Here are some additional thoughts:
Sec 1 - loss of Coach May could affect Tigers. Wouldn't shock me to see North vs. South in finals
Sec 2 - addition of two players from Edina to the Fire make this a very deep section. Wouldn't be surprised to see Ep vs. HF in finals
Sec 3 - no change here
Sec 4 - no change here
Sec 5 - Centennial is a threat hereto replace Anoka
Sec 6 - no change here
Sec 7 - ER is always in the mix, but they have come up short so sticking with GR vs. DE
Sec 8 - I will slot in Moorhead and take out Brainerd

Mr BD, Tonka is top 5 this year, but one year away still , then poised for 2 championships in a row at the X .

I don't think anyone knows how stacked Tonka is next Year. They will have bantam and JV players that could play for any varsity team in the state
I see them with the ingredients to possibly win the state title for three years straight.
Those are some blue-tinted glasses boys. It would be fun to see them but I have my doubts.
How many years do you need to go back and review all of the times Tonka has fallen short of the title? The reverse of the expression 'they do more with less' applies. Skippers have the least success with some of the biggest advantages in the last 20 years. The proof is at Pagel, not hanging from the rafters...
They will find a way to fall short. I wish it weren't so, because EP has a run of 3 straight State appearances, and most have them pegged for a 4th.
good to see some new blood at the X, even if it is blue...

You are right, anything can happen
Kids might have enough talent to be poised to win it, but they got to come through and execute when it counts
The Skip group coming thru pipeline certainly came thru for two bantam championships, but in 2017-18 they will have to earn their way thru the sections and at the X .

Well, of course there rarely is a shortage of blue blood at the X.@hockeytweet wrote:Mr BD, Tonka is top 5 this year, but one year away still , then poised for 2 championships in a row at the X ."choke"PostPosted: Tue Aug 02, 2016 3:06 pm Post subject:
