The rap on BSM all year has been their depth on defense and their goaltending but since the Holy Angels game they have been solid in this area of their game. EP does have the experience factor with 13 seniors I believe but the pressure is on them which I think bodes well for the other teams in the section. Benilde also has a revenge factor going from that 1st loss to EP. One game at a time though so first Armstrong, then Wayzta and hopefully a great matchup with EP.

Steinhouser's out and the only reason you can say the d has been "good" after AHA is they have played nobody besides SSM after AHA. Plus Benilde has a strong recent history of failure in section semis. No way they beat Wayzata.
We'll see. Wayzata is overated and check out their "history" in the sections. Not good. EP may score a lot but they give up a lot also. They have as many defensive issues as BSM, Tonka or Wayzata and their goalie is no stud. No question they have the experience factor but nothing is a lock this year.

Pucku126: I read your comments about Steinhauser and you did renig quickly when starmvp called you out on it but I think your smiley face was bush league.
EP has what is generally regarded as the best defensive pairing in the state in Molenaar and Seeler and Ford is a finalist for best senior goalie. Even though the save % isn't that high EP plays the toughest schedule in the state: http://www.minnhock.com/strength.htm
Where is BSM on that list? 30th. Wayzata? 2nd.
EP two out of three.

I would take Daly and Horton over any other D in the section, not even close. The goalies are about even.

Lee and Karl are better at the point, not even close.

Being a BSM fan, i believe that these others who are trying to create controversy by saying ridiculous statements and things that are overly promoting BSM should stop for the sake of the forums. I, and i know others, dont want to always come on and see a fight between BSM "kids" and the others. Keep it classy on here boys.

I also agree with the fact that the team that will win has to have a hot goalie come sections. Ford is the best here but you never know what will happen.

So debating your position with others concerning the BSM squad is now "creating controversy", and "promoting BSM". Get real. This site is about debating high school hockey and obviously there will be a lot of different views and if YOU can't handle the debate then stay out of the debate and don't lecture those of us who dare challenge other posters. I debated HockeyMN1 last nite on his statement that "no way BSM gets by Wayzata in the semi's" which I believe is a ridiculous statement in itself. We were going back and forth, but I don't take it personally and I sure don't need "the greatness" to play the lecturing professor to the "boys".

By the way HockeyMN1: While I am not saying Daly and Horton are the best defensive pair in the section I would put them up against any pair out there and your club has given up a lot of goals in some of their wins (Lakeville South and North (not exactly powerhouse teams), Hermantown as well as the Benilde game) so your defense, in my opinion, is a potential weak spot that may hurt you in the play-offs.

We gave up 4 goals to LVN on December 7th, not something that has any relevance at all in sections. We gave up 5 to LVS a month ago but keep in mind we scored nine. That shows how EP can easily be bailed out by Rau and co. on an off defensive night, a luxury BSM simply does not have which showed against Spring Lake Park. Again 4 to Hermantown but that's not so bad when you have Rau...and don't even bring up the Benilde game if you want to hold onto any credibility whatsoever. We were up 6-2 after 2 and you guys scored 3 garbage time goals in the last 7 minutes. Seeler is probably the most agressive defenseman in the state and Molenaar simply doesn't get scored on. He hasn't had a negative +/- game all year, and that's with a bad hip which gets better by the day.

This is all, of course, in addition to the fact that almost all of these seniors won state as sophomores. They know how to do it.

That will be an adventure though next year, with only 1 returning D and no returning goalies :-k

Oh yeah I'm not at all blind to the fact that this is the year. Next year we're in no way a top 10 team, may not scrape the top 20 or 25. But this year we have the talent and the experience to make it all the way one more time.

What the heck....I am going with the Trojans.

The Trojans have sputtered in past years in the sections.

They will right the ship and beat BSM and EP.

I will be subject to criticism for making this prediction.

The team will rise to the occasion. Cameranisi, Lucia, Klein, Jones, Richards and Dingman will carry the team.

We are playing on neutral ice.........

GO Trojans !!!

The only problem I see with that is Dingman... I think he will be a little shakey

Lets hope he rises to the occasion and can keep his composure.

If the Trojans can get a lead, then it should help him relax a little bit.

I am guessing he will get the nod over McIntyre.

He did beat Edina and Mtka towards the end of the year.

Only time will tell...

You guys have a lot of talent and definitely have a chance at winning the section. I think EP will win because imo Rau+Rath+Rath>Cameranisi+Lucia and I think EP has the better blue liners, but you played us to a tie at your place and only lost by one in EP. Anything could happen, it will be interesting to see how the olympic sheet at Mariucci affects a potential Wayzata/EP championship game.

Didn't even think about the Mariucci part of it. I think it would give the Trojans an advantage, because they're used to the Olympic at Plymouth.

I'd give the Trojans the advantage at Mariucci because Lucia will let them practice there all week.

There's an olympic rink at the EPCC as well, I'm sure they would use it preparing for Mariucci. Lol star.

Wasn't a big fan of Plymouth's ice sheets. Good memories, but their ice was too soft years ago. IMO
