I always love that one. IALTO!HockeyGuy81 wrote:You can hope in one hand, crap in the other, and see which one fills up first.theref wrote:If kids don't want to sit and parents don't want little johhny or jill to sit for 2 minutes, teach your kids not to take dumb penalties.
There are gonna be circumstances that call for kids to take a penalty as the 2:00 shorthanded is better than getting scored on, but for the rest of the dumb slashes, high sticks, etc... you are now letting the kids off easier.
I hope this rule gets overturned next year.
1:30 Penalties.....Seriously

A walk through the rule book with a member of the association that officiates is a good idea, as well. Maybe head off the early season release from the box after an even strength goal or the release of the coincidental players onto the ice during play.HockeyGuy81 wrote:This solution is far too logical to be on the youth hockey forumsinbin wrote: The solution - get the people on your team who know how to operate a clock to work with the parents at a couple of practices (check with coaches first) so they know how to run the clock. Write down instructions/cheat sheet and make copies for everyone on the team. Include on the instructions what to do if there are multiple penalties and if a penalty runs over from one period to the next. If no one on your team is a time clock expert, ask someone on the board for help. Better to learn during the pre-season than under fire in a league game.
I know my kid salivates uncontrollably when he is in the box for longer than 2 minutes on a coincidental! It all makes sense now...JSR wrote:How is something that is as old and as accepted as modifying professional rules to fit young kids overthought?mnhcp wrote:To many people thinking of all these great ideas.
Another view is, just keep them at 2 minutes when they're young as to condition them against taking them when they're older.
What's the next new overthought great idea is coming?
Also, you wouldn't condition the kids any more or anyless using 2 minutes versus 1:30. They're kids and this isn't Pavlov's box
