So some girls get to play A, they could have in there own association. The girl that does not belong, how does she get better. You're a fool if you think this is gonna bring in new girls to the program. All this says is that the only thing they are interested in is winning and no one will develop. It says if you are not good enough don't look to your own association for development. Fools!!!!
rj........I completely agree with your comment on the associations responsibility to develope their own players. The goal of top organizations like Blaine should be to expose as many girls as possible to A level competition. There will always be complaints on who makes the A team's but what is most disturbing about this situation is that the team only kept 11 skaters. There were move-in's and the board allowed a skinny roster.
I tried to get 17 on our roster this year but wasn't allowed because it messed up our B's. Could you imagine how good Edina would be with 11 skaters? At the sametime, how do you think Edina got so deep in talent? They ran over 30 players at the A level against the best competition in the state. Guess what...the state champs are returning 14 A players from last year.
If the rules were followed with the move-in's.......fine....but to make an administrative decision to also reduce the roster and limit the opportunity for girls to play A hockey is wrong. Year after year I have seen examples of the top 11 players on a team pulling the lower 4 player up to the next level of skill. That is the ultimate learning environment and I believe the organization just missed a golden opportunity to step up the overall depth of their girls program.
Missed opportunity

A short roster at the A level does not make sense, would make more sense to increase the A roster and short the B roster. Unfortunately that could make it more expensive for the B parents.

I have a reliable source that Blaine had 16 skaters and 1 goalie at 12u registration. The 14u team had 9 skaters and a goalie at registration. One 12u player missed the birthday cut off by 3 days and has always played up since her 10u season. Allowing her to move up would have made it 15 skaters at 12u and 10 at u14. It is also my understanding that one other 12u girl petitioned to move up to play with her classmates and this was approved. Now there would have been 14 skaters and one goalie at 12u and 11 skaters at 14u. This does not sound like a numbers problem to me. This sounds like a great situation compared to other associations numbers. There must be more to this than I am seeing or the transfers would never have been approved.
rj04 wrote:Here are the facts. Blaine had 16 skaters and 2 Goalies prior to the waive ins. The girl from Forest Lake IS attending school in Forest Lake and is a great player. One of the girls waived in from Champlin Park is the daughter of A board member who is the bylaws director and has played with the Blaine coach in AAA before and midwest selects, and by the way is a good player. And as far as this not being a District President issue, WRONG!!!! IF there is a concern for the integrity of D10, he has no option but to act. Even if he has to delegate, fine, but don't just ignore the issue. I understand that people complain about everything but this is different. This is a blatant disregard for the rules. IMO there is no fowler thing you can do to your own association.
All 3 girls that waived in made the A team. If they had a girl of lesser talent wish to waive in would they be so quick to allow them in. I think not. 2 of the girls are selects and AAA caliber girls!!!!! Also what right does he have to make phone calls and recruit. Which is a fact by the way!!! D10 and Tim Timm need to handle this.

It's moot! Mute means inaudible. We can teach our kids to skate, but can we teach them English if we don't know it ourselves? Let me guess- you'll write "irregardless, you know what I mean!"?

WOW!!! So has anyone tried to contact D10 on this issue, and if so what did you come up with. It sounds dirty to me. But what do I know. mnhcp you sound like you have drank way too much of the BLUE kool-aid and see everything through BLUE glasses to see the problem with whats wrong here. It looks like AAA hockey has reached the winter association season, looks like im trading my red hat in for a green visor, so next year Edina here we come. If others are doing it then so should I.

this is more then a Blaine issue: why did Champlain park and Forest Lake give the waivers in the first place. why did D-2 agree to it? all parties need to sign off to make a waiver legal? are these associations getting rid of a problem parent. maybe their original association do not want these players. if they're cancers to a team or association they may have welcomed them leaving ?? just a thought???
Let it rest.

We are all aware of parties involved. We all know that Blaines new U12 manager is the girls coordinator for Champlin Park. We all know that Blaines new U12 assistant coach from CP is also on the board at CP. And we all know that the head coach and the CP coach have coached together in the past and are going to in the future. As far as FL girl, she was waived out and accepted. So we all know that Blaine, although may seem innocent, is not. I am tired of talking about this. Those who need to act will, and Karma will do what needs to be done. WHAT COMES AROUND, GOES AROUND!

Reading the blogs, I had to respond. Being the parent of a Blaine U12 player, who has played in the association for 6 years. The facts as I know them: Blaine had 15 skaters and 1 goalie at the U12 level. We were told that they wanted more ice time, so they fielded two smaller teams. Eight skaters and the goalie were kept at the A level and seven skaters moved to the B level. The Champlin Park and Forest Lake girls were waived in, and to my knowledge, did not participate in tryouts, earning an automatic berth to the A team. Blaine then co-oped the B team with Coon Rapids B players, which were eight skaters and a goalie. Guess the B team got 15 skaters after all. We requested to be waived out to surrounding associations, and were denied by BYHA. An e-mail to Tim Timm, resulted in a response saying he spoke to BYHA rep, and he knew nothing of 7 or 8 skater teams. Over the years, I have seen associations load up one B2 team, and always finish the standings with one team at the top, and one at the bottom. Blaine always fielded two competitive teams at the B2 level. Why now is the BYHA abandoning their own girls, just to make one competitive A team. You all are right, we should take care of our own. It is surprising that BYHA wonders why their girl numbers are down. I am sad to say, it looks like my daughter will not be skating this winter, as she does not want to play on another co=op team. The fact I won't be able to watch my daughter play youth hockey this winter, truly makes this hockey dad sad! Anybody know about the Recreational League?

Just an FYI for everyone....
Tim Timm suffered a death in the family sometime in the last week and is away from home.

Without truly knowing all the facts it is difficult for this DD to create an opinion.
Fact is, the northern people despise waivers of this sort - perhaps because we can not do something similar, but it does provide an advantage for the Blaine's of the world to put a more competitive team on the ice then those of us that do not have that capability.
Regardless (or Ir...), it is clear that some of you have strong opinions on this matter.
Greybeard is right, file a grievance.
That is the proper (and perhaps only) recourse.

That is unfortunate. I would think the district has another in place to serve the members during the time of absence.

Thanks GBEARD, I was offering them a suggestion, as you were. So they could follow thru in their quest of purity. The d10 president's contact info I imagine can be found on your the district website.

The whole Champlin - Blaine thing is just simply embarrassing. I am not a parent of a child in either association THANKFULLY because the conduct of parents in this is sad. What happened to kids growing up and playing with their friends in their own neighborhood/city?
There are so many outstanding parents who are unfortunately tarnished when other parents try to live thru their kids - instead of letting the kids play and have fun. Isn't that was this is SUPPOSED to be about???
All this time and energy is being wasted on adult political games when it could be otherwise spent helping kids and making things better for EVERYONE, not just to appease a few parents who think their kids are too good for something.
Just sad.....

Dennis Osbeck is completely wrong on this one. He has destroyed his name in hockey and I say good riddance to that kind of mentality. Let us not forget that the BYHA Board all aproved this. They hold as much responsibility, if not more then the coach and girls coordinator. Finally what about our District 10 representitives??? Where were they when all this was going on. How can they stand bye and let BYHA leave there own kids hang out to dry. It is dispicable and I can not believe they have not put a stop to it. They have failed the public so I call for a revolution. Rise up and fight for what is right.

[Wow - there is no way D6 would have ever allowed this unless the parents of all the U12 program and its board agreed to it. Unless I'm missing something here, it certainly sounds like they're building a AAA team up in Blaine. Talk about throwing your own kids under the bus to bring in ringers...what - are the Norbys' coaching up there or something...?

Whoa, whoa, whoa.....iraqi hockey guy. While I am flattered most the time to be mentioned most the time in the hockey world, not this time. Leave me out of this one. This thing has been spun so many ways and it always ends one way. "Bad for kids and bad for hockey"!!!!!!!! Our farm girls up here in STMA beat them 3-rip without recruiting and scholorships anyway. Let's start another Blog entitled...."Why are there 15 competent 12UA teams in the Metro area and 18 AAA teams?" I hope everyone has a great season and remember..."Don't ever bring a knife to a gun fight"

Ha Ha LOL. Man you shot back with a ballistic missle - that was quick. I admit, that was a cheapshot but only thinking back to the good (bad) old days when showcase required 17 and you came in with 12/13 jr ringers (gophers). Looking back, you were ahead of the curve by pooling together a true independant AAA team which pissed everyone off. As for me, I thought it was great because we used you guys as a baseline to measure our progress. After you set the trend, I followed suit and did the same thing and hoped others would too for the sake of development, fun and cost containment. Your a visionary but I digress, back to Blaine. At the risk of restarting the Iran/Iraq war again, I'll publicly apoligize for dragging your name across the Blaine mud. You've done a great job up there in the NW. Hope to see you around and don't worry, I don't carry knife or a gun.
