Of the 15 Stealth skaters, only 8 were on the list...Like you said, that Stars roster is loaded, should it be any surprise that most, if not all, of them are on the list as well?conditioningsucks wrote:Muck,

Granted - the Stars roster is a loaded roster which cast off half of the crew from the Independent Cup last year to put together this roster for the International Cup.

2008 Futures draft USHL
the 2008 Futures draft for the USHL from Minnesota looked like this, how many of these kids were on a simliar list last year and work out or play for FHIT associated teams? Any of these kids go to the USHL? How many of these kids were selected for Advanced 15's????

I agree. This entire thread has just been an attempt to explore what that list is really about. There are simply too many players on that list who don't belong with the others or there need to be another 30 or 40 names added.conditioningsucks wrote:One final thought.
Are any of the FHIT instructors on the Central Scouting Committee participating in the Advanced 15 evaluation process? This seems like a conflict of interest if any are and they should step aside.
FHIT does run a great program and I am not here to rip on FHIT. I just think a little more transparency is warranted.
The problem arises when the list is passed off as an objective evaluation when it really isn't. As someone said earlier, it's business and politics. Yes, it's difficult to escape in life but we're talking about youth hockey, I think we should all do what we can to keep it as fair and objective and transparent as possible.

I would use the word separate and independent. The USA hockey selection process should be separate, although many of the player names will be the same. The scouts or evaluaters should remain independent and should be pulled from a very diverse background.
OK I am being a little anal here, but the word transparent is troublesome because to me nothing changes behind the seens - same as it ever was.

I think most of the MN kids on the list (except for the Shattuck kids), had something to do with FHIT. Either their summer program, or the NAHL tournament last year. They were in the tourney under the Blades name. Two teams.
As for the list coming out now. I would say it has more to do with the Showcase camps they run, (USHL) rather than the Advanced program from MN Hockey.

Interesting that Easton managed to group together a much stronger MN Stars team than the Stealth. I would believe that Guentzel would be the only player on the Stealth roster that has the same ability as the players on the Starsconditioningsucks wrote:Muck,

Have you seen the stealth play? Do you know anyone on the Stealth team? Just looking at a few names it looks to me like the Stealth is just as good, if not better. I just looked at old scores and it looks like Stealth beat Midwest and a few other teams.Nobodyonya wrote:Interesting that Easton managed to group together a much stronger MN Stars team than the Stealth. Re: 94 USHL Central Scouting List
When is this tournament?

Are there players missing? Are there players on the list that shouldn't be on the list?
Please, don't criticize me on the list. I just posted it, I didn't create it.![]()

The question you have to ask yourself with regards to the USHL (I mean fhit list) is how many of these players made advanced 15 vs. didn't, and who made 15's that aren't on the list. The obvious kids are on the list but there are some head scratchers as well as kids I know not on the list. But......I guess that is what I would have expected out of this or any list. However, I would rather put my money on the kids coming out of the 15's as the most accurate than the list from the Fhit guys.

That is why you don't make the list. That may be the most idiotic statement I have seen on this forum.Gretzky9 wrote:The question you have to ask yourself with regards to the USHL (I mean fhit list) is how many of these players made advanced 15 vs. didn't, and who made 15's that aren't on the list. What about the worthy players who elect not to go out for the 15's for whatever reason? How do you figure them into your list?Gretzky9 wrote:The question you have to ask yourself with regards to the USHL (I mean fhit list) is how many of these players made advanced 15 vs. didn't, and who made 15's that aren't on the list. Why is that Flat....cause you're pimping Fhit and can't stand the truth. What would you say if I told you at least 3 people with D1 experience or better looked at the list and agreed with me? You can disagree with my position (much like I disagreed with the list) but don't start playing the whining name-calling card.....cause we can all play that oneflatontheice wrote:That is why you don't make the list. Agree with you muck....they should be figured in no doubt. I just think the 15's list gets you to a better answer than the Fhit guys.muckandgrind wrote:What about the worthy players who elect not to go out for the 15's for whatever reason? Having a kid on both lists....(and many others due)
The USHL List is more accurate for the Metro Kids. Maybe not the northern kids.
The USHL roster is deeper than the select 15's. There really is not ONE NAME on the USHL list that I have not heard of. (from MN)
The USHL list is not a 2 day try out process. The kids on the Easton Teams, Blades and or JR North Stars were hand picked... due to proving themselves over the years and not a 2 day process. The select 15's will be fun but not as talented.

- Easton/Blades/ etc. kids are hand picked...you kind of answered the question of the whole thread. The 15 process while not having as much time to evaluate kids is a lot closer to unbiased than a father picking his kid and his buddies....or a coach from an area picking kids of friends of his and their buddies
- Let's take the final 20 from 15's and play off against these "hand picked" teams and see who would do better?...in fact, let's take the top 40 or so off the 15's list and compare/play. Enough said!
You don't have to please me. The topic seemed to embrace the fact the Fhit list was close to complete and accurate when I simply was trying to point out a conflict of interest in developing the list and that it didn't seem all that complete or accurate. If that list would have come from any group of guys with credentials that haven't taken money from those on the list it would be more respected.flatontheice wrote:Then they must be right...those D1 guys.Gretzky9 wrote:Why is that Flat....cause you're pimping Fhit and can't stand the truth.
