The north region isn't done yet. If Duluth beats Moorhead tonight they will be the number one seed and if Moorhead wins they will be number 1.
gold region
thanks for the clarification dwc.
please send in an update or two tonite if u can.

quality teams
So much for bardown's assessment of Wessy's not being a quality team (check his posts if you don't believe me):
Wessy's - 2 (M5 seed)
Burnsville - 1
Also, two of his other teams, WBL and Jefferson are OUT. Will Edina be next?

Re: quality teams
What are you talking about? You do know that non quality teams can make it to state right? I'm not sure if you know but Wessys lost to EP 8-2. That's not very impressive. Beating Burnsville by 1, Congratulations. Just like for varsity, the best 8 teams don't always get to state because of bad draws in regions. I would still take WBL over Wessys anyday.blueblood wrote:So much for bardown's assessment of Wessy's not being a quality team (check his posts if you don't believe me):

Re: quality teams
I would have to say that Burnsville would of won it if it were not for those two penalties which caused Wessy's 2 goals they were playing them pretty evenlyblueblood wrote:So much for bardown's assessment of Wessy's not being a quality team (check his posts if you don't believe me):

wessy & burnsville
Penalties are part of the game. Wessy's took advantage of them. Good teams do that.
Didn't Burnsville have any powerplays in the game?

Tonka
Tonka has nothing to be ashamed of. Yeah, they went 26 games without a loss, that's a great accomplishment, despite the fact that you continue to minimize their efforts and accomplishments.
They beat White Bear when it counted at regions. They beat Centennial when it counted at State. (P.S. don't tell me about their schedule again and who they played and didn't play).
You and I will both agree the top 4 teams were in the state semifinals. Anyone of the four would be a deserving champion.
I said in an earlier post the champion would probably be Edina, EP, Tonka or White Bear. (Note to self: we were both wrong on WBL)
Yesterday they ran into an exceptional goaltender. They outshot Wayzata 34-21.
My hats off to Wayzata, Edina, EP, Centennial, Wessy, Duluth, Moorhead and Tonka. It was a great seson of JGA hockey and I'm ready for the offseason following todays game with EP.
I will be back next year to continue to plug the Warriors. They could be a strong club again next year with 6 returning players and several projected seniors (~8 to 10) and juniors (~4 to 6) who unfortunately will not get an opportuity to play varisty hockey, but would have a great time playing JGA hockey for our great coaching staff.
P.S. Bardown:

I wasn't trying to minimize their efforts, just fun to stir the pot. You know how it is Blue.blueblood wrote:Tonka has nothing to be ashamed of. Yeah, they went 26 games without a loss, that's a great accomplishment, despite the fact that you continue to minimize their efforts and accomplishments.

But Congrats to them on a great season. They really ended up better than I thought they would and they improved a lot as the season progressed. I attribute a lot of their success to their 2 goalies, especially parkhurst(sp?). He is a gem for JGA. It's too bad they couldn't meet Edina in the Championship today, woulda been a good one. Unfortuantely, I won't be around as much next year, but you will hear from me I am sure.
