Exactly. So for those who have an issue with who was officiating, take it up with USA Hockey, not the ones running the tourney in Roseau.
Does anyone know what the qualifications are to ref a Bantam A game? I know it's different than PW or SQ A....Just curious, because I have never seen a HS-age kid ref a Bantam game in my life.....

From USA Hockey Website: MINIMUM/MAXIMUM AGES

"USA Hockey has no minimum or maximum ages for officials. It is highly recommended that, regardless of level attained, officials not work games of their own age classification or higher. Generally, officials can successfully officiate as young as age 10."

Also

There is a chart outlining the playing levels and officials levels, it did not post very well so here is the link:

http://www.usahockey.com/Template_Usaho ... &id=235318

Looks to me a Level 2 or higher and is older than the age level playing, then he/she is good to go. High School kids officiating Bantam games and below is within the USA Hockey standards.

Roseau has ALWAYS put on a wonderful tournament. Let the reffing issue go. Someone can and will always complain about reffing during a tournament.

Not sure how this year went but I know in the past the city teams have always enjoyed the idea of playing the northern teams instead of other city teams. Doesnt always mean the best team wins the tournament but who really cares about a trophy if you had a great time.

In D16 Roseau has very qualified refs.
I get very few complaints.

The fact that some young refs (but experienced level 2 and level 3's) are on the ice has been brought to my attention. It can cause problems, but none of the people bringing it to my attention complained about the quality of the reffing.

We use home town refs (for the most part) for all games in our district.
We have had some problems, but 98% of the time we get no complaints about the reffing.

This is the last post about the refs or the thread will get closed up.

Mark, looks like someone didn't get the message. Perhaps they will now.
