Roseville 3 Woodbury 2 O.T.

The Royals have to tie or beat White Bear to win the conference title outright or have Roseville beat Cretin on Feb. 19th.

I'm not gunna lie Woodbury did not play well at all they are a better team then what I saw tonight. Hats off to Roseville they played a great game and really deserved this win they crontrolled regulation and I think Woodbury was lucky the game went into o.t. Woodbury had an edge in overtime but Roseville caught a break at the end and scored with 1 second remaining. In the end though Woodbury was the better team but Roseville played a better game and even though this loss came down to 1 bad break for the royals I still think they deserved to lose this game

Even though I am a Royal fan. It is a good video. Thanks to whoever put it on web. As to Roseville's only shot, it looks like from the video, there was at least 3 in overtime.

There is no doubt at all that this isn't the way the Royals wanted the season to end. However, they did much better throughout the entire season than most probably thought they would do, finishing with a 21-4-2 record.

They won the South St. Paul Premier Tournament (via a shoot-out over South St. Paul) and captured their second consecutive Suburban East Conference title.

With 13 juniors on this years team - including both goalies, the Royals will return a wealth of top players for next season. The Royals also have three sophomores that played varsity this year. Depending on the boundary lines for the new East Ridge High School in South Washington County, these sophomores will be back as well. The returnees also depend on two juniors - Walker Hyland and Max Gaede, that have been rumored to be leaning towards playing junior hockey next year. Hopefully they will stay for their senior year at Woodbury.

In addition, the junior varsity finished at 22-3-0.

I know it's easier said than done, but, the Woodbury Royals really have nothing to hang their heads about despite tonights tough loss to Apple Valley. You left all that you had on the ice. As time goes on, the sting will lessen.

Again, hats off to the entire team and coaching staff at Woodbury this season.

I went to WB and watched as both Hansen and Johnson went to juniors their senior seasons. It has benefitted both of their hockey careers and I think that if Gaede and/or Hyland think it will help their future to go play junior hockey, they should go for it.

Can barely beat Rosemount the worst team in the Lake - lose to an AV a team in the middle of the Lake - no more analyzing needs to take place.

Ditto on wbmd's comment! Both the A.V and Woodbury goalies played great games. Both gave their respective teams a chance to win.

Couldn't agree more. Both goalies gave their teams great chances to win last night, it was a great game to watch.

Woodbury senior Tony Pittman was recently selected as the Suburban East Conference Player of the Year for the 2008-09 season.

It marked the first year a player from Woodbury was selected for the award.
