Quarters

Roseau vs. Eden Praire (1 vs 8 here....EP wins)

Duluth East vs. Wayzata (Wayzata clear favorite, but injuries could help East... in the end Wayzata wins)

Moorhead vs. Edina (Edina has had a bumpy road here, but played well and avenged two losses to burnsville last week. have to go with hornets here)

Centennial vs. White Bear Lake (This one will be the tight as well, they have traded blows all year who will have the final knockout? I say Centennial ...big goalies win big games)

Semis

EP vs. Wayzata (if Wayzata is still beat up this will be easy for EP)

Edina vs. Centennial (Wow what a battle, these two went head to head in 05 and 06 splitting championships. I give the edge to Centennial, only because i am not a fan of the gong show known as Edina)

The Ship

Ep vs. Centennial ( rematch of last year, and if you would have asked at the beginning of the year if this would have happened I would have said no chance, Centennial not good enough. However......... things have fallen into place for them, unfortunalty the results don't change, EP takes home the title, again)

Well boys, it is all over and I have to say even now after calling it (look above) I am still surprised. It was a good tourney fun to watch, but in the end EP the favorite to win it since October 1 and they did not falter. Won their fourth Championship, 2nd in a row Great season!

To bad Wayzata was not healthy to make a good run here, I think they would have put up a good fight even won, if they are all healthy.

Edina did not disappoint a team that probably shouldn’t have even been here (see AV game in districts) turned what should have been a great opportunity to win the ship in their own barn into an absolute circus. Don’t sue me!!!

Congrats to East the best Northern team in the state, with an all twin cities winners brackets, we “cidiots” sure are proud.

Finally my kudos goes to Centennial 6 state tournaments in 8 years, all to the play for the ship, 2 Championships, 4 runners up. Have been in the ship 4 years in a row. No one has had a run like that since the late 60s early 70s. They played a great post season and gave EP a battle, just couldn’t put one in the net.

Awards:

Season MVP: EP’s #7 Kyle Rau, he was by far the most dynamic and most valuable player to his team all year long and showed up big when it counted (broken wrist and all).

Post Season MVP: Centennial’s #35 Brett Larsen. With a goals against under 2 the entire post season, and allowing only 2 goals in the state tourney total, his team rode the best goaltender in the state to his 4th consecutive state championship game, his 3rd as a Bantam.

Congrats to all and i look forward to next season!
