Gotta go with Anoka in this one, with Cloquet just squeaking by East and Anoka opening the flood gates on Grand Rapids, i think Anoka will beat Cloquet pretty easy.
If you had been at the game, you wouldn't be saying that. Rapids was not a good team on Saturday. They had plenty of chances to score when Anoka went to sleep in the 2nd period, but they lack finishers. Anoka is a good club, but they will not beat Cloquet easily. If they win.

Anoka 5 or 6
Cloquet 2

It will be nearly impossible for the jacks to play remotely close to the intensity as the east game. They give 500% every DE-CEC game and maybe at most 110% in any other regular game. Kind of funny how that happens.

Like I've said before this game will come down to goaltending...

But what if the section 8 representative loses(gasp) the first game.

Do you root for someone else or stop watching?

My allegiance is to 5AA first (hopefully my team)

Then to Roseau (if they make it)
Then to any family or friends teams
Then anyone
Then anyone
Then anyone
Then Hill
Then Edina

Then I will cheer for the biggest underdog.

Hmmmm, tough one, but yes, I probably would.
If they were the underdog, chances are they wouldn't have been flappin' all year.

I haven't had the opportunity to see Anoka play at all, but they were only up 2-0 after 2 periods against rapids, they beat ANDOVER 2-1 their first section playoff game, it's not like Cloquet is dead in the water here...

Cloquet's goaltending is an issue, the lazy or not lazy jokinen, this team could be clicking at the right time or it could be just another cloquet beat east game cause they always come out to play eachother despite records...

I'm pretty sure Cloquet was the favorite over rapids in the finals the last two years and got stomped...so maybe its time they come from outta no where to do it...

Either way section 7 is the weakest its been in a number of year, over 10 at least I think...NO team will represent us well at state when we have to play Edina, Roseau, Minnetonka, Centennial, Hill, etc. Our opening game...

Last, anyone who doesn't understand why people who support section 7 usually won't cheer for Anoka, what don't you get? The section assignments can change every year, it's not gonna change the location of teams, North people like to support North teams...Anoka is not a North team, go Roseau, end of story?

Your d*mn right we will be pissed off! Why the mshsl feels the need to infiltrate city teams into the northern section of the state is just plain hogwash! This section is the north, always has been and it should have always stayed that way get these city slickers out and keep them out! Cloquet you better play harder than you have ever played in your lives-THE NORTH DEPENDS ON IT

Some posts are just priceless...

In 5 years the best teams in this section might be Andover and Forest Lake.

I'd be interested to hear you name those 8 or more AA teams from the north you want in 7AA. :?

Hahahaha I like that, I'm not even picking sides or giving my opinion on that issue i'm just saying that whether you think their should be an ALL NORTH section or not, people from the north are obviously going to cheer for north teams whether a cities team wins section 7 or not, and people from the cities will cheer for cities team, probably especially if one wins section 7.

Either way, I don't know why anyone would think if Anoka wins section 7 Northern fans are required to cheer for them, its not the section they have to cheer for, the location of the teams aren't going to change, and the ones in the north are the ones they cheer for..

I don't believe city people have a geographical bias. If the title game comes down to Roseau and a city team, 90% of the people at the X will be cheering for Roseau.

That's fair, there's really too many teams to have bias for all of them no matter what, all I'm trying to say is North is loyal to the North no argument there, so why is it surprising to some that Anoka won't be cheered for by the North should they beat Cloquet?

I love how everybody is commenting on anoka's poor fan turnout? how about the group of about 100-200 highschool boys and girls that drove over 4 hours to stay in a hotel and watch there boys play. Dont worry WHEN there at the X there fans while arrive.

I dont think Anoka is asking for fans, but RESPECT.
