I agree, I would rather see any north team win over a cities team!

If you read earlier posts of that game Anoka only got 16 shots because they decided not to shoot. They felt the game was in hand after the score was 1-0. They converted to a defensive style allowing GR 35+ shots for the game.

I grew up in Rapids, and remember the electricity and excitement watching them in the late 80's and early 90's. Going to the section games last year I noticed that feeling is back in the hearts and minds of the Rapids fans. There is no way a bunch of cake eaters are going to come into the north and get any where.

Looking at Anokas schedule, whoever said they were 20-6 with an AA schedule..., they really didn't impress me with the wins or the losses they had against some of these teams.
I have yet to see Anoka play this year, but I think that Rapids will shock them at the DECC. Rapids will have a ton of fans, and I really don't think Anoka will. Rapids is always ready to go come sections, and I don't think Anoka is or will be, especially after their showing against Andover. I think this will be a tight game, but Rapids will pull it out 2-1. Should be a fun day at the DECC.

This is the dumbest post I've seen yet regarding Saturdays game...what a shock that GR3343 says AMEN to it

Calling the Anoka team a bunch of Cake eaters from the Metro

And hey genius...they already came up North and shut-out the T-Hawks 3-0
on Jan 26th.

I think it will be a great game to watch...but no matter how many GR or Anoka supporters weigh in on this game...whether with insightful or dumb comments...it won't affect the outcome...nor will the number of fans that attend from either school...Anoka will have their share of fans...so will GR ...Anoka's players have a lot of "big game" experience (playing in the section 4AA Semi-finals and Final last year)...so do Grand Rapids players...good luck to both teams...it going to be exciting.

We're all quite impressed with your wonderful words of wisdom. Don't think you've quite gotten the point that no one up north cares for the fact that there's a southern team in a northern section. Yes, you are a Twin Cities northern suburb, not a north team. We also are smart enough to realize this was not of your doing, it is what it is. If you don't believe that fan base, the noise they bring with them and atmosphere, don't affect outcomes of some games, you probably shouldn't be posting here. Nothing quite like a D1 College Arena packed to the gills with screaming fans to either make you pucker, or get your blood rolling. Lay off with the dumbest post thing, and stop with the attacks. No one has put your team down, and most are calling it what it should be - a good close hockey game. Not everyone is going to pick Anoka no matter how much you want them to.

As for the "big game" experience you spoke of, how'd your team actually do in that 4AA final? Hmm, I seem to remember some smack on the bored last year about how no one was going to knock off the Twisters because of the great team that they had. What was the outcome again?

Seriously though, should be a great game, with two talented teams, and may the best team from the north win.

Once an Ironhead, always an Ironhead I guess.

7AA is not a northern section. The north abandoned it.

I guess you don't recongnize friendly banter when you see it. If you don't think that atmosphere has anything to do with the intensity of the game you are seriously mistaken my friend. when there are 18,000 fans at the X, and 17,800 are chanting "public schools" it makes the hair on your neck stand on end. All joking aside it's going to be a good game, and anything said on this board is opinion and banter. It's all meant in good fun, so stop taking it so seriously and banter back.

I love how all you ever hear is that the "northern" section needs to be represented by a northern team. Why should it be if a northern team isn't good enough? They don't just get a free pass because of geographic location. Prove they are the best and they deserve it.

hockey59, if you think the semi's at the Coliseum compare to the semi's at the DECC, you are severly mistaken. I watched Anoka's upset win in the semi's last year. The atmosphere in the building was nothing like the DECC. You are lucky to be in 7AA and have the chance to experience intense section hockey. The players and fans of Anoka will feel very privileged on Saturday to be there instead of the Coliseum. It will be rocking.

No one ever said the northern teams get a free pass. One thing you got right was the northern section, your right 7AA is a true norhtern section, we just invited you southern schools into our house. 8)
