Hey good luck to you guys.

I hope you are able to beat up on Hayseed High and all of the other top programs you will run into at sections. While BSM plays Tonka; HM takes on WBL and Roseville; AHA plays Edina and CDH plays Rosemount, you boys will be a sluggin out against SSP.

We shouldnt make fun of that and I am so ashamed of myself for doing so.

Have another glass of that Kool Aid droppin gloves and keep pretending its all the same.

I love Kool Aid....probably because it is so sweet. It is only like 10 cents per packet. Even people from SSP can afford some Kool Aid can't they? It isn't exactly a delicacy. Don't worry, I have a couple State Tourney banners to keep me warm during the long Minnesota winters. Jealousy is an ugly thing. It is not very becoming. C'mon, after all we are neighbors. Packerboy, there are two ways to be the tallest tree in the forest. You can cut everyone else down or you can GROW. We Cadets prefer the latter.

There is another way to make yourself the tallest tree now isnt there droppin gloves ?

Its the Cadet way. Plant yourself amoungst the pansies.

Check this out fella. SSP has 27 top tier tournament appearances and 1 class A appearance.

Meanwhile, STA has 4 class A appearances all of which are since 1999. You are accusing STA of sandbagging. Why doesn't SSP go back up and play with the "California Redwoods"?

Let's not forget that 2 off those appearances were the last two years and could be attributed to the strong STA seniors.

That's a nice inferiority complex you have there.

My prediction: STA rolls through 4A winning by 3+ each game then gets "upset" by Marshall at state.

you don't mess with ssp, its people or its tradition

ssp is one of the last blue collar "small" communities in the metro area.
ssp is a proud town and proud of its accomplishments.

chances are your parents or grand parents are from ssp. So don't be bashing because you think your grass is greaner on the other side.

Not so much. I actually have a life and don't have the time to make several thousand posts. Believe it or not, there are actually human beings in the world to interact with. Log off of your computer for a few hours and go watch a hockey game. That's cute that you and Packerboy have formed a little alliance. No really, it's sweet. I am sure you guys will look darling wearing your respective schools sweaters while watching other teams from your section competing at State. It takes a little more than an incoherent sentence fragment to drive me off the board. Point being, STA seems to be the target of a lot of anger and it's pathetic. I don't care how illustrious you think SSP's history is, when people make stupid comments, they should expect a response.

So just to clarify, the enrollment listed at STA's website says enrollment ~695 for grades 7-12. Now, this is where it gets complicated. Subtract ~130-150 for the middle school enrollment on a given year, and you get ~545-565 for grades 9-12. I hope all you genius' out there could follow along ( this was just simple math and should have been covered in public schools as well as private).

For all you know it alls that like to bash STA, please get your facts correct. You all sound/look like complete idiots.

No axe to grind here with STA but its a fact that many of the kids enrolled are there to play hockey as well as the education. I think its a good bet that if some were not elite hockey players they wouldn't be there. How about we just accept that private schools will only get stronger with the current circumstances being what they are. Bashing STA, HM, Cretin, AHA and all the others is just a waste of time. LETS ALL JUST MOVE ON !!!!!!!

i don't think anyone is saying STA is unstoppable.

edit: if anything proves otherwise, just look at the way they played against DM.

Why does it matter what level they choose to play in. Its their choice, period. Hell my resident program has been hammered by the private school exodus, you just pick up the pieces and move ahead. What some consider private school arrogance is no different than the pride and loyalty we feel for the teams we support. I've always admired the history of the SSP progam, their accomplishments speak for themselves. Unfortunately the days of small metro area teams Competing with the big schools and the privates has passed. Private school dynasties are here to stay. STA will become the same as Hill and AHA, a contender each and every year at A or AA.

Cabela10, you must not be from the metro, or not get out much. Burnsville Senior High School is grades 10-12 and all the public middle schools in the area are grades 7-9. Other cities do this as well, not sure about all of them though.
That being said, I'm not sure which grades the MSHSL uses. Looking at STA, there's no way there's half of what they post in grades 10-12. That would be ~175 in each class and freshman classes aren't that big (freshman classes are the biggest).

keepyourheadup, You are right. There are people at BSM, STA, AHA, HM, and many other private schools for the sports. Just because that's why they're there doesn't mean they don't get the other aspects of the school. You are right though. But if you are trying to suggest that this is only the case at private schools, you are very naive. There are students playing at Edina, top Lake Schools, Tonka, Mankato West, Brainerd, and many other public schools for the hockey. Hockey in this state would be very different if all public school students played for the school where they live or originally lived.

from what i heard there was a cheap hit from behind and he went down. they took him off on a stretcher and then to the hospital. rumor is that he was moving his legs, so theres a good thing. but i have not heard anything else yet.

HSHockeyWatcher, I grew up in SSP and our middle school is 7-8 and our high school consists of 9-12.

It must be a big school thing to go 7-9 and 10-12, but we don't do it here in SSP. Actually, our high school consists of 7-12 and the 7-8 graders have there own seperate wing of the high school. Remember, we are a tiny community with a tiny school with no room to grow.

Yes kids move to public schools as well, more often than not to a big program or to a school with a an unusually strong group. Look at elk river over the years as a good example. My point is that it would be silly to think that the private school model for success is going to go away. As for Shroeder, I heard hes doing well just a little sore.

I think you will see more kids moving from a small school to a AA school than moving to a small school from a big school. I think kids would rather play in the big school tournament.
