Must make less then 85K single and 110k married???
Why?
That is skewed... if you make 85k single you get it, but if your married and both make 56k you don't? BS if you ask me!
So those that pay the most get zippo!
Unless I'm missing something here?? I'm sure you guys will correct me.
Not quite in its final form yet CNT, they still need to figure out how to pay the illegal immigrants double. For the life of me I can't figure out which party would be making this so complicated?

It seldom happens, I but I have to agree with Dubya on that one.
The rebate is a cunning election year ploy that comes up either on the state or federal level every couple of years though. Nice to know that our current president is his own sheep!
Gotta love the lame duck republican desperation. I get a kick out of the fact that by throwing us a couple hundred of the thousands of tax dollars from each of us they've misspent over the last 8 years, they believe that we'll all be foolish enough to think they've "saved the day" and that we should rush to the polls to get them back in starting in '09. Thanks for the insult to my intellegence. You've got my vote.
The only reason this rebate will happen is because it's an election year and the honorable memebers of congress can say look at what I did for you, vote for me. I had no problem when Ventura gave us a rebate when the state had a surplus but the Federal government doesn't run a surplus and the money could be spent elsewhere better.
I hate to go Art Bell on the bit but our markets are built on a paper income not a gold or silver standard. Companies weren't going public to fund our retirements. At some point all this money invested will be pulled out to pay for our retirements and there won't be enough people putting money into the market to offset the money pulled out. Most of us cafe readers won't be to adversely affected but our kids will be. The housing boom and credit card debt may bring this country to its knees, people can't pay their mortgage or their debt so they let their homes go to forclosure and file for bankruptcy which in turn gets passed on to those of us that do make our payments. Giving people a rebate check does nothing but maybe help out the problem for a month or 2 at best. Nobody in power wants to tackle the real problem which is credit card and mortage reform because it hurts the "American Dream". Those of us old enough probably bought our first homes one of two ways, either with a hefty down payment and an interest rate of about 10% or higher or on the GI Bill. Lending became to easy, too many have more debt (excluding a mortgage) than annual income. Until that problem gets fixed no rebate will be any better than putting a thumb in a dike.

I stole my house from WBL
Thanks BIAFP
I saw in some reports that the income limits were a likely part of the proposal, and just like playing time "it's not Fair" if they tie it to that.
Do they realize how many divorces this could cause

CNT it makes total sense that they wouldn't give any back to those that already contribute the most. It should be given to those that don't pay in at all or very little. It's just not right........but it is left
First you tax the livin ship out of people who have any kind of earnings and then when its time to give some of it back, give the money that they got gouged for in the first place to somebody else.
What % of married couples make less than 110K combined?

Exactly!! it doesn't make sense, even if it's a proposed limit.
It pisses me off, you want to deduct college tuition, or interest paid on student loans?? sure if your non ----- and make $8/hr, that's great!! but at that point your not sending your kid to college anyway.
But make a decent living because you worked your axe off, and you get the big bagel rebate....!! if it's not for all, then it's for none, and especially no one who already receives credits or assistance I'm paying for.
Hate to sound brutal on this but I'm tired of being squeezed.

The "Right" mind?
The only soft spot I see is the one between my legs
You gotta love him. He is such a silver tongued devil that "W".
But I'd rather have him stumble a little bit with the language than with common sense. Remembr, your heros couldnt beat him in an election becaus they are so far out of main stream.

your opinion is not brutal at all - the people who pay no taxes will be guaranteed a tax rebate (why?) while the income levels that pay a greater percentage of the total income in the US will get 0.
It's a shell game, and does not correct the problems of the current economy.
I don't remember the Gore presidency, Govs. How was it?
He will be remembered for his belief that he helped invent the interweb thingy, for his huge carbon presence that contradicts his Oscar and Nobel prize, and for not understanding the electoral college

The same as the Kerry term........never happened
Right, neither were able to accomplish anything as president... which compared to Dubya's reign, is much better.
But hey... some people are getting enough loot to buy HDTV's to see those vivid blue colors on election night!
Right you are Govs......then we can spend the rest of our lives living in bomb shelters as the terrorists will have free reign on what was our fine country
