One question? Since the past 5 winters have been very mild. How do the kids get to skate outside? In our city. The two weeks that are nice enough to skate outside. The local association uses the rinks every night.
Any suggestions?

FYI, my kids and their friends skated on our back yard rink and down at the park a lot last winter. Great excercise and it's un-structured....... Yes, believe it or not kids can play hockey without coaches, have fun and get better
In case they don't make ice in Chaska/Chanhassen you can always bring the little shaver down to the Roseville Oval. Believe it or not............they allow/encourage unstructured hockey down there too

Breakout- Unstructured hockey is great. You do have to admit the winters have been mild the past few years. That's my point. Outdoor ice in our area has been terrible. Anytime we can get outside we take full advantage.
There is no doubt that it's fun for my son to skate with the older kids and just have fun. Just like he does for his new structured league.

Burnout in youth sports is a well-documented problem, and so are over-involved parents. Minnesota Made seems to be a cauldron for both. Believe me, if I lived nearby my son could EASILY be in their program. I don't see anything inherently wrong with it, but I do see risks.
My advice to anyone would be to enjoy it while you can. The Made approach seems to force kids to take it far too serious. Nobody danced around more after a goal than Gretzky, yet these kids can't express jubilation? Okay, sure.

It seems that a lot of you are of the opinion that this is too much hockey for a 9-10 year old (summer AAA MM teams). What do you think is a good age for a youth hockey player to be on a team like this?

USA Hockey doesn't conduct championships until kids are Pee Wees. I don't think Let's Play Hockey ranks Squirts either.
Development beyond youth hockey doesn't start to take hold until kids are through puberty, and Squirts is a long way from that.
I'm guessing the answer you'll get is 12. Same age as when the LLWS is the Big Kahuna in baseball.
i guess i would like someone to tell me what mm is all about.. how much do they play in the summer? does this program run in the winter months too? where are the kids from. who do they play? ect.........
