A win would've been much better, but you don't think bringing Hill to OT says something to people?

HSHockey Watcher, you just don't want to play Richfield in the section semi's do you???

If you are implying that I am scared, that is not it, but I think the team deserves it. That's all. And in the other thread I started most everyone basically said you should be seeding the team that is going to sections if there was a change in the line up because we are human, and everyone on here is saying that isn't the case.

When does 3A seed???

Good question. Any one know. And what is the process? Is it an actual meeting? Email? Letter?

If Richfield beats STA would they become 3rd seed?

Well, at this point, anything's possible. People keep talking about the seeding like it's something the people that vote have a list and switch it around at every game. If they beat St Thomas, after bringing Hill Murray to OT, they'd probably go to 2nd. Would St Thomas stay at #1?
St Thomas hasn't lost a Class A game since last season when they lost to Breck at the beginning of the season.

Before the game on Thursday, why has Red Wing locked up it's #3 spot? If you compare the schedules/results of Red Wing and Richfield, they are about the same, with Richfield looking a little better. If you throw in the addition of Guggs and how they've been playing, I'd say it's:
1. St Thomas
2. Lourdes
3. Richfield.
4. Red Wing.

Seeding is based on head to head competition in the section only. They don't care about beating other teams or who your goalie is. if Richfield beats STA, they would not move to the first seed as they already lost to Lourdes 11-1 and they lost to STA 3-0. They would likely be either the three or four seed even if they beat STA this weekend.

Really? Here's what it looks like:
Richfield lost to Shakopee; Red Wing beat Shakopee on Shakopee's ice
Richfield lost 11-1 to Lourdes; Red Wing tied Lourdes 3-3
Richfield lost at Tartan, then beat Tartan 3-2 at home; Red Wing shut out Tartan 5-0 at Tartan
Richfield got shut out 3-0 by St. Thomas on Richfield's ice; Red Wing lost 2-1 on St. Thomas' ice
They both beat Simley, Northfield and South St. Paul
So how is Richfield "looking a little better?"
And if Richfield beats St. Thomas, are you prepared to say that Richfield should be seeded ahead of STA? After all, according to your theory, "you should be seeding the team that is going to sections if there was a change in the line up."

Honestly, yes. If Richfield comes in and sweeps St Thomas 4-1, then yes, I'd put Richfield as the #1 team. Because they look like currently the best team going into the section tournament. As for what Offside said, these coaches are human, so having a goalie back and seeing what he is doing should have an impact. And if you know so much, why not tell us how the procedure goes? If they are human, why can't they use other games?
Hill beat St Thomas by 2 goals (and a third with an empty netter), and Richfield took them to OT. If Richfield wins Thursday by more than 1, they are the best team going into sections, period.

what was the score?

The score was 4-1. It was 3-1 with 30 seconds to go. Then an empty netter. Either way, what I was saying was arguing for Richfield, not St Thomas. Richfield lost in OT, St Thomas lost in the 2nd period. So, like I said, in my opinion, if Richfield wins by more than 1 on Thursday, they should be the #1 seed.

Hawkfan, what are you even arguing here? This topic is about section 3A, not about the St Thomas and Hill Murray game, there is already a thread about that. Post your feelings there.

Actually there all sorts of seeding procedures. Don't forget the poilitics in the section. Conference teams may vote differently towards their own conference teams. Look at the 25 game schedule as a whole. Do they play more AA or A teams.

HShockeywatcher, If Lourdes wins out until Sections they will have I think about a 11 or 12 game win streak. And they beat Richfield 11-1. I know Goofy Guggs is a great goalie but I am not sure it would have been a 10 goal difference.
I do not think they have any chance of getting the #2 ahead of Lourdes. 3 maybe but not sure about that either with the common opponent scores vs. RW. Should be the #4 and will probably play STA in the semi's again.

So basically people keep making the same statements and keep ignoring what is being asked. Sure there was one bad game, maybe he would've made up 10 goals, maybe he wouldn't have.
I started another thread where everyone that posted said you seed the team that's going into sections, not the team that played earlier in the season, and yet everyone in here is putting that original team in their place, not the one going into sections, and singling out individual games, when 25 were played.
Lourdes lost to St Thomas by 4. Richfield lost by three. If they win Thursday, that's better. Richfield shut out Northfield by 3 goals away, while both Lourdes and Red Wing won by 1 at home. Richfield beat S St Paul but 4, Red Wing beat them by 1. Red Wing lost to Mahtomedi while Richfield lost by the same score then beat them by 3.
In the end, this is all just silly. You can argue either side very well, although I think holding one bad game against Richfield is silly.
Anyone know the seeding process of 3A?

Mathrunner, since August 06, you have posted over 1600 times, with 75% related to STA. You have turned people off to the STA program with your assine questions, statements and mindless drivle. You back peddle more than a clown on a unicycle at the shrine circus. Now you state if Richfield were to beat STA this weekend they should be the #1 seed in Sections...
You really are challenged.

75% pertaining to St Thomas? I'd bet it's less than 50%.
How am I back peddling? If the team that's going to sections beats the top team, as well as taking Hill to OT and being 8-1 right now in their last 9 games, why wouldn't they be?
No where in there did I say I think Richfield will win, but if they do, that would be my personal opinion.

I would take that bet, if you went back to the old mathrunner days. I am sure you could do the math to figure it out. I am sure it is at least 75%.

The seeding meeting is Sunday. After brief discussion, each coach will rank the teams in the section, excluding his own team. The results are cross-tabulated and the seedings are established.
Teams seeded 7-10 will have their play-in games Feb. 20. Quarterfinals will be played Feb. 22, with games hosted by the higher-seeded team. Semifinals are Feb. 24 at Inver Grove, and the finals are March 1 at the Coliseum.
At no point in the proceedings will anything HSHockeywatcher does, says or write have any bearing or relevance whatsover. Of course, that's true everywhere, all the time.
