I have lived near Green Bay for the last 27 years.
I was kind of amused by the Favre talk at first, mostly because I figured there was no way he would ever play for anyone other than GB.
Listening to him last night changed my mind. Not only would he play elsewhere, I think he will do whatever he can to make it happen.

I wonder if the Pack would put 8 in the box to stop AD with #4 behind center? :)

Stay tuned, more to come.

Why is the Farve thing such a big soap opera?

GB wants to move on and Frave wants to play so just let him come back, trade him for a second round pick and be done with it. Everybody gets what they want.

Whats the big deal?

It's pretty clear that ol' Brett wants to come to Minnesota. I don't know what else you can read from this.

PB's close personal friend on the old neighbor says there's no chance they'll let him go to a team in the same div.

It's just another show for old man Favre to get attention.
He should just retire with class, but no... like always in true Favre form he'll go out whining.

Brett is under contract for 12 mil this year. I'd certainly hold a clip board for 12 Mil.

What would the Packers rather do? Pay him 12 mil to hold a clipboard, or get a second round draft pick for him and aviod the circus that would happen if Favre was on the bench?

I wouldn't pay Favre 12 mil to be the Vikings QB this year, let alone add a 2nd round draft pick.

1. Farve is not going to be the backup QB in GB nor anywhere else. It wont happen.

2. The only way he returns to GB is if they change gears and make him the starter and wait longer on Rogers. Unlikely.

3. So, the only likely scenario is that he is traded . When that happens he will go to the "highest bidder" unless the bidder is the Vikings and they are only slightley higher than somebody else.

If the Vikings offered enough, they would trade him to the Vikings but the offer would have to blow them away.

That's what I think.

The Vikings won't offer squat. Chilly's the coach, and he has this "system" you see. Favre would upstage the "system", and Chilly will have no part of it.

Here's another interesting move by the Favre camp:

If Brett Favre is really going to force a showdown with the Green Bay Packers, it won't happen right away, his agent told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

"We have no definite plans to ask for reinstatement," Favre's agent, James "Bus" Cook, said of the former Packers quarterback, who has asked the team for his release. "Right now we have until the sixth week [of the regular season] and Brett has made it pretty clear that he is not willing to come in as a backup.

If he asks for reinstatement and they start fining him $15,000 a day [for not reporting to training camp], well that just doesn't make sense.

We're going to let Green Bay decide what they want to do. It's their move."

I don't know all the ins-and-outs of the agreement the NFLPA has with the NFL, but from what I've heard throughout this thing, if Brett applies for reinstatement, the Packers have to put him on the roster (at least until they trade/release him). So if you read between the lines - and the the last sentence of his agent's quote above says a lot IMHO - he's going to wait until camp is over, apply for reinstatement, force the Pack to cut somebody to give him a spot, and I believe that would also cause issues with their salary cap since they likely won't be cutting a $12m player (maybe they already have room for him, I don't know).

This is starting to make the Heather Mills-Paul McCartney divorce look like a pillow fight. Interesting....

Farve is being a doorknob.

If he really wants to play, file for reinstatemnet, let GB trade him and move on.

Why would GB give him a release? Why should they?

Brett Farve, you sir are a Pinhead.

I saw the packers are filing tampering charges against the vikings. Apparantly Bevell was talking to Favre.

This is going to make for an interesting year no matter what happens.
I think it's safe to say the Packer-Viking rivalry is going to be more brutal than ever.
Bring it on. :)

Vikings owner Zygi Wilf told the Star Tribune last week that he wouldn't comment on the Packers' tampering charge, but added, "Let's put it this way, I look forward to the opening game in Green Bay."

Rumor has it the Vikings will sport gold helmets and pants for the duration of Brett Favre's time with the Vikings

Also, the Vikings will be retiring Brett Favre's #4 during halftime of the Packer's Nov 9 visit to the Metrodome.

I'm really looking forward to this season.

Pure genius! I wish they had the balls to do that. Somebody would end up dead, no doubt.

Just heard on NFL Radio that the NFL dropped the tampering charges against the Vikes.

Don't know if that's a big surprise, but at least it's one less thing to deal with for them.

Is today the day something finally happens? Sounds like all that talking the Pack did with Favre last night led to the determination that he's not going to start, and that he probably won't practice today.

The bomb is going to hit sometime today... One way or the other.

Wonder if they can get those purple Favre jerseys in stores by tomorrow? I may have to go get one.
