Re: BBBBBBBB
I've got some info, not that most will care. I'm not from Elk River either. Last two years Elk River played A's, got their butts handed to them. I dont know for sure but I dont think they won more than a few games each year. This year their HS splits and Rogers takes a bunch of kids. So they decide based on who said they would show up to play Jr Gold that they would go B's. Well a few more showed up and you know the story. I'm not certain of all the players but I think most played B hockey through their youth. Why do I know all this if I'm not from Elk River? Good friend has a son playing, I could care less about their record......

WHERE'S SLP COACH??
Haven't heard much from SLP Coach lately. We need to know a score, man. Help a brother out! Oh, and I heard #9 was at it again recently with the crotch shots. Thought you were going to talk to him about that?

Edina (6) vs. Anoka (0)
Anoka's kind of going through the motions, but you have to give them a ton of credit for showing up every night and not forfeiting anything.

Who's getting the Buffalo/WBL-Black score?? Rat? (Not to be confused with RATT!)

Re: WHERE'S SLP COACH??
Well, haven't said a whole lot conserning all the playoff talk, because, well Our team will not be apart of the playoffs. Now, that doesn't mean that once the playoffs are set, that I won't talk about the games or make predictions or anything, but I really haven't given as much thought as the rest of you to the playoff structure and who will be where because it doesn't concern my team this year.

As far as you stated #9, well before it was #7, now it is #9. I suppose you heard this from EP-R, being that we just played them the other night. No need to call out my players, our season is finished.
On a separate note: I call BS on anything said from that Red team. (No offense MNHObs or EP-Red Coaches) They were the 2nd worst poor winners I have seen all year, next to Edina. Your at the top of the heap, winning 3-1 and outshooting a team something like 30-10 at the time and you start taking runs at guys, 2 handed ax chops to the wrist and back of the legs. Then bitch about getting moved out of the front of the net. Needless to say, I was "removed" from the bench for the last half the the 3rd period. There were a couple of players on that team that I personally would have like to take a run at myself.

SLP Vs Wessy's
Wed 2/18/04
SLP (5) Vs Wessy's (0 - zero)

In Park's final game of the season, SLP came out tonight and played with great heart. Prior to the start of the game "senior night" festivities went on and I think it took the players out of their game for the first few shifts. After that SLP completly controlled this game. Outshooting Wessy's (9-2, 11-8, 15-9) totaling 35-19. Giving up only 3 shots from the front of the net all night. The majority were from the blue line or outside the zone that they just threw on net. Park scored 2-1-2 and had 11 of the 12 pts produced by the seniors of the team. The only other point was an assist by Sam which was his 2nd pt of the year. Congradulations of a great season Park!!!

I just want to thank all the players (& parents) for making my inaguaral season such a great sucess. Your a great group of kids and I hope that friendship goes further than just this great game of hockey. THANK YOU

SLP Coach
First of all, nice season. It was great that you were able to start up a team in SLP. Going off a coment made by somebody earlier, I agree, your enthusiasm and heart for the game show when you are on the bench. I think you and your assistant coach are good for that program and Metro Hockey League. I hope run into you in the future. Again, nice season. Maybe we'll see you at some of the playoff games?

BVILLE

Thanks to SLP Coach
SLP Coach - Glad you enjoyed your season. Wish it could have been more successful, but that's what building a program is all about. Thanks for starting this thread and leading us all year in keeping up to date on the scores.

As for calling out your players and the numbers, etc., I was pretty sure it was #9 back in the Edina tourney, but it's not important. Yes, it was indirectly from EP Red that I heard it and I would have to agree, they are not saints. They have some cocky kids and some hot heads, I am not sticking up for them. Just that anyone who has played the game knows that a stick in the nuts is avoidable and painful. Maybe I can coach somewhere next year to kick those little Red pukes myself - in your honor, of course.

Congrats on a great season and thanks for leading with insight. I know I look forward to your "work from the booth" during the playoffs.

Re: Thanks to SLP Coach
Hey guys, thanks for the kind words. This really has been a fun season. Much more so than I even could have anticipated. The discussions and banter on these boards have been a big part in making this year such a success.

I have made a big point of not measuring success on the numbers that are put on the scoreboard (although that is a part of it), but the countless "battles" that are both won and lost and more importantly what is learned from those battles. Some of them come on the ice during games, some during practices. Sometimes even in the locker room with out any coach knowing about it (locker boxing for example). But the most important thing to measure sucess is how did each individual, the team as a whole, and even the coaching staff grow and become better people becuase of the lessons that we all learned throughout the course of the season. I must say that SLP's season was an outstanding success.

I will definatly be at some of the playoff games - both Districts and Regions. I, as I'm sure all of you, pull for cetain teams to do well but above all I will be pulling for the MHL to whoop up on D8 and somebody to put ER and Edina in their rightful place. Good luck to all the playoff teams especially the "friendships" that have grown on these boards over the past few months. Hopefully we can still continue and do it all again next year!

Did someone win an Oscar?
Why all the blubbering? SLP Guy will be around. He's a hockey-nut = it's in his blood!! Too many men weeping on here...

<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> Just kidding, hope all the teams that are completed today and tonight have great off-seasons and good luck in the future! We should all go play some golf in the spring...

The Rat like grape pop too!

ER in its place
SLP - / It really looks like we will get ER in the first round of playoffs and youve got my word as a fat man that we will do our best to put ER in thier place. First time we played them we missing people from a car wreck, and then half the team was injured in the game...Neutral ice and an "almost" full team should make for a great game.

As far as the season being over . . . IF you had fun and and the kids had fun, they will be back and so will you. his coaching thing is addicting. Still not having met RAT or MNHO,. i still hope to see you all at the districts, or tonight perhaps at EP? I'm still not sure if i am gonna make it or not, as a friend just made me his best man for his summer wedding and there is some celebrating in order!

Things that make you go hmmmmm.
Has anyone ever seen Rat and MNHObs together??? Hmmmm. Anyone ever seen LaToya and Michael together?? Hmmmm.

Anyone who would call you their friend and best man would surely not do so on the biggest night in the MHL (no matter which game you attend). Take 'em with and have the party in EP! Sadly, tonight won't be the night to meet up, though. I am fortunate to get updates from these teams because I can't make it to the spectacle tonight. Could be grounds for divorce!

I will expect some analysis from anyone who attends as well as the lowdown on the Tartan/Centennial game and the Burnsville/Minnetonka clash.

"It's a great day for hockey!"
-The Late "Badger Bob" Johnson

Rat in Bville! Rat in Bville!
No Rat will be found in EP, he'll be lurking in a corner in Bville #1 where the Braves (4ever) and Skips (rematch of '90 State Tourney game-HS that is). I will get detailed reports from EP via the "Observer" and I am sure here later on...

The Rat and Observer have only been in the same arena once this year ... you guess which one.... Re: 2/19 SCORES????
No kidding. It is almost 9 the next morning and no other scores to be posted. B'ville & Rat....What happened in the b'ville / tonka game? Does anybody know about the Centennial / Tartan score as well. These both have seeding power and even I'm curious. Common Fellas....

Interesting to see that EP-R/B tied 2-2 last night. What happened? Nobody wanted it bad enough or what.

Burnsville v Tonka
Burnsville - 4
Minnetonka - 0

Where do I begin? The score reflected the play of the game. We had more shots and opportunities. We outplayed them from the middle of the first period on. Good outing by our squad. Fun game on our senior night!

------AFTER THE GAME---------
I witnessed the most classless act I have EVER seen in my life. Let me back up for a moment. The Minnetonka coach had their team convinced if they didn't win they wouldn't make the playoffs. So when the team lost the probably figured their season was over when actually, they are in anyways because B.P. forfeited a game against Wayzata. So the Minnetonka coach knew the whole game they were in the playoffs and the players did not.

When the horn sounded our guys went over to congrat. our goalie. A couple guys from Tonka came full speed into our group of guys and started throwing punches. Our guys responded by doing the same, (what are they supposed to do?) The Tonka guys were actually trying to rip our guys' helmets off. It was so classless! Now both teams are short 3 guys for three games because of the immaturity of a few Skippers. I am pissed off to say the least.

If I was a district 6 official and was in the crowd, Minnetonka would not be in the playoffs. The would lose their spot.

BVILLE

EPR-EPB
From What I Saw, (Halfway through the first on) Both teams came to play!!! Both teams came out flying, it was very physical, good movement, all around a good game...

The only thing that surprised me was that both teams seemed to keep trying to connect a long "homerun" pass to force a breakaway that kept being intercepted by the D at the redline, as opposed to head-manning the puck and setting up a good forecheck like both teams have had hug e success with throughout the whole season.

2/19 scores
Sorry I'm so late reporting the Tartan/Centenial score. As it stands now, I think the only spot effected was the 6 and 7 spot between Centennial and WB Orange. Centennial came out on top 5-3, including a 200 footer open net goal with about 45 seconds left. It was a great game, very fast paced and hard hitting.
We had a little trouble getting started though. Someone forgot to schedule refs for us. We finally got the game going about 25 minutes late, just enough time to fit 3-14 minute periods in without a resurface. This game was a good warm up for both teams heading into the playoffs.

Re: Burnsville v Tonka
Tasteless finish by both teams.

Situation was iniated by a blind side elbow to the head by Burnsvilles captain, that momentarily knocked out Tonka #18 - looked like a yard sale. The Ref made the immediate call but the offending player did not immediately leave the ice. When he finally went it was to cheers from the crowd by the box.

Totally unnecessary, as they had already won the game and did not have to start the physical stuff.

Yes, I saw one stupid Tonka player in Burnsville's end and yep I think he precipitated the fight, but it soon became 3 B on 1 Tonka, before benches cleared.

I would have kicked 4 players on each team, but to penalize the other Kids on both teams who stayed on their bench by kicking them out of playoffs would be too severe.

Both teams were at fault. Sad thing to happen at the end of the season. Which is why we counsel all JrGold coaches to not play their seniors for the last 2-3 minutes of their last regular season game.

First of all, our bench never "cleared". We were on the ice already congrad. our goalie like teams do when they win. And it was more than one Tonka player. It started with two and soon became more.

What would you have done if you were in my players position last night? You were obviously there. If someone rushes you and starts swinging do you sit there and take it? I prefer not to end up with a broken and bruised body. They deserved to have it be 3 on 1 when they act like that. And then for one of the Tonka coaches to come over and say he'll kick one of my players ass. Very mature! I wonder where the team gets it????

And I should be able to play the seniors at the end of a game like that without wondering if Tonka is going to cause trouble. It's our last home game, they deserve to be on the ice

Tonka should be thrown out for doing what they did.

BVILLE

A sad evening for Bville/Tonka
The descriptions of Bville and %%WORD4%3 (??you are??) are correct. Unfortunately, a few kids didn't keep their end of the bargain at the JG level and skate off the ice after a pretty good game. Messer is right, it all started with a vicious hit by a great hockey player (2 cent head) #11 on Tonka's #18 who spent the evening in the hospital after that hit. #11 for Bville should have and still might be tossed for an "intent to injure" hit. After that, Tonka's goon (#17) was on the ice and hunted a retaliation to the above mentioned hit. He got it and also got a penalty. The game played on and then the end was a couple of knuckleheads wrestling around like the end of any JG game.
Then the previously mentioned melee broke out. Three Tonka morons lost their heads right along with 3 Bville idiots and they ALL deserve the suspension. If they want to fight - let 'em fight - their loss, they're done. Period. The ugly part was that a Bville genius came back onto the ice after being ask to leave and 3 Bville guys were beating on 1 Tonka goon. One "yellow shirt" was spearing the downed skipper and that's when the Tonka coach lost it and told the kids to leave. (However that's done, it needed to be done!)
Observing this was ugly, to say the least, to say that Tonka was at fault is partly true. To say that Bville didn't play dirty is an incorrect statement.

And to Brandon, aka Bville Coach, if you thought the Tonka coach was wrong and at fault, you should have told him that while standing on the ice and chatting about the situation following the game - not in a forum like this. A couple of your guys were just as classless through this ugly affair and you should be more pissed and concerned with your team's inability to keep their heads because Tonka just took care of your playoffs chances. I believe there were apologies given by both of the Tonka coaches to the Bville Asst Captain and you, Brandon, leave your blaming to the players. You cannot blame good coaches for immature players. Isn't that what we've doing all year on this page??

Rat
First of all, #11's intent was not to hurt the guy. He hit him right as the puck touched his stick. Yes, it did look a little vicious but the intent was not to hurt him.

Secondly, yes, there were apologies on the ice after the whole thing went down. My point is, when a coach tells one of my players he's going to kick his ass I think that is wrong. Coaches CAN NOT ACT LIKE THAT!! No matter how emotional it is out there. Period. And I'm sorry if you are that coach, or you are buddy buddy with him but it was wrong!

Last time I checked Minnetonka did not "take care of our playoff chances". I don't know why the hell you would think that.

And yes, you may be correct Burnsville did play dirty. After we were bum-rushed. Rat, what would you do if somebody rushed you? Would you sit there and take it? Would you let them RIP OFF YOU HELMET? I'm pretty sure 2 of my guys ended up with their helmets ripped off. It's not like we are playing on carpet or something. That's hard ice. If they fall and cut open their head are you taking them to the emergency room? I'm sorry you are a Tonka fan but the bottom line is this....

IF TONKA WOULD HAVE LEFT THE ICE AFTER THE GAME WE WOULD NOT BE HAVING THIS CONVERSATION!!!

BOTTOM LINE -

Two Versions, I agree..
I don't need to get into a pissing contest with you, Bville Coach. You are obviously still angry about it all. I agree that if Tonka would have left, there would not have been the vicious cases, but it happened and those 8 guys are done. It is a sad day when this all happens because most of them are good kids and shouldn't see their final games from the stands. But ultimately, it's their choice. I'll take responsibility and criticism for the Tonka coach's actions you are referring to, perhaps you can own-up to the fault of you and your guys?

I don't blame you, Brandon, why blame him?

Two Versions
Don't get me wrong here. I am not saying that it is the Tonka coaches fault for what his players did. I agree, it was the players choice. They made it, they live with it. I was simply saying it is not a good example to set for your team when you are telling high school kids from the other team you are going to kick their ass'. My players that were involved know what they did wrong. They take responsibily for it. They are going to serve their suspension. It is just unfortunate that if Tonka would have left the ice we could both have full rosters for playoffs. I still don't understand how Tonka ruined our playoff chances. Can you explain that?

And I also agree, I don't want to come on here and have a pissing match either. I do, however feel the need to stick up for what I saw and what I believe in.
I am allowed to do that on the Forum, aren't I?

BVILLE

Re: Two Versions
Thought the action took place with like 20 seconds remaining on the clock then the refs ran it down.
