Appears Knowlzee "struck out", in communication with Govs,.....looking forward to the next at bat, though. Although, the Govs did correctly understand the misspelling of Santana (wasn't a total loss).

Regarding Santana,....his "talk" may be driven from emotion. He was probably a good friend of Castillo, and like the rest of us, possibly a little surprised with the news. I get the impression, he really is a pretty good teamate, and certainly a competitor. He will be there for his team down the stretch.

Out of town and didn't see the game last night, but appears he pitched like an ace. Hopefully, the team saved some runs for tonight. We'll see. Stay tuned, this race is not over yet, folks. Go Twins!

I'm sure I'm going to get comments about this and I know with the wording it doesn't make sense, but I'll ask anyway: can the pitcher DH or hit in some other way in the AL?

If the pitcher bats, there is no DH. New solution: try Googling any of your questions before you ask them. You'd be amazed at what you find.

grindiangrad, I agree with you for the most part, but there's a huge factor to remember here. When we lost a few games Detroit was on their streak where they won like 4 of 16 or something like that and Cleveland was losing some too. Today was great for all of our defense but just goes to prove what most of us have been saying which is the run support. All that said, Detroit lost today, Cleveland might and if anyone else ahead of us does (although a horrible series to lose) we don't really fall back that much.

It'll be tough, but it's possible.

I've said it before and was told to shut it, I hate it when a pitcher has 6-8 good innings and are replaced. It happens all the time that the reliever doesn't do close to as well.

I think the boys have run out of gas. It has been a good run for the last 5 or 6 years. They were bound to come up a little short eventually.

Not sure what it was on this day, but like I said before August 10, 2006 the Twins were 9 games back and they came back. So, I guess we'll see.

We have Santana tomorrow, whose numbers are outstanding against Seatle, followed by Garza, Baker and Silva again. If we can do well in those 4 we can get on a roll. Silva starts 3 games at home against Texas that, on paper, we should do well in. If we can get on a roll, we'll be fine. If we can't do it in the next 9 games, then I will sign off.

Granted I know run support has a lot to do with what's going on, I've become less of a fan of Boof as the season has gone on. How bout we keep our rotation for the rest of the season to 4 pitchers; Santana, Garza, Baker and Silva, and possibly then just have our top bullpen get a little more work in? (I know it won't happen, but it's just my two cents on a decent strategy)

Why would it be hard to cheer for them now? I don't know about you guys, but I have all the confidence in the world in our next 4 pitchers. A little run support we're down to between 3 and 6 games back 4 games from now. We need to make a run, just like last year.

Posting this from sunny California, I was at the game yesterday. Anaheim has a nice stadium and it was fun to see the Twins outdoors. Weaver confounded the Twins for most of the game, I was under the impression he was a power pitcher but I didn't see any pitches get over 90 and it looked like he was one of those junkballers that confound the Twins bats. After Casilla stole second and third I wanted him to try to steal home because I figured that was the only way he'd score. Boof was in and out of trouble all day before giving up the home run that knocked him out of the game. I don't know what Morneau's numbers are over the last week, but it seems like he's been in a slump. Let's hope they can pick it up in Seattle.

Going to Dodger Stadium tonight for the first time, should be cool. Then it's back home to piles of work and the possibility of standing on a picket line....

Teams have off years.

This is still a young group who will have their ups and downs.

Sometimes in the development process, you take a step backwards.

Still alot of young talent that needs to further mature.

Maybe they were a little ahead of themselves last year.

It wouldn't be the first team like this to have a down year and then come back to win.

I don't know what to make of this team and though I'm far from calling for Gardenhire's head something is terribly wrong. How can a weak hitting third baseman be unable to bunt? This last failed attempt was about his 5th. At best Punto is a defensive replacement but he sees the field as an everyday third baseman here. How does an All Star catcher try and turn a 2 out bloop hit into a triple and get thrown out by 10 feet?

The Twins have always prided themselves on playing the game the right way, these Twins aren't playing the game the right way and aren't good enough to get away with it.

The bright side is soon it will be September 1st and I won't have to watch White, Punto, Casilla, etc. butcher the game of baseball anymore. If after the September call ups I see Punto in the line up I will scream!!!!

The Twins have been pretty good to us over the last 20 years.
Just the fact that we are still hangin on this late is something a lot of teams can only dream about.
Let's finish strong and go get 'em next year.
