Refs at Buffalo normally fair...unlike the 18-5 penalty blood bath we took in Rogers...
well it is your turn to take them to dinner then I guess

In the Mississippi 8, 3 or 4 really good players may be able to make the difference. In Section 8 that's just not the case. It will take a roster of 20 players, willing to accept their roles and staff direction, to have "a chip and a chair." Take away the 16 or 17 with potential, and the 3 or 4 can't field a team.
PG19: I am impressed with your ability to see through the maze. No doubt about the acceptance of roles but isn't the job of the leader of the team to define roles and make sure one role is not percieved as more important than the other? Also, let's not forget the parental influence because they are the ones who really need be convinced that the team always comes first and that not everyone has the tools to be the star.

Let me give you an example of what I mean (not that you asked) The last Bison game I attended sitting behind me was a parent of one of the Bison players...with 2 minutes left and Bison up by 2 his child committed what most would call a stupid and uncalled for penalty. In most cases people would assume that this penalty was just wrong and that this player had committed a rather large mistake. Not the parent...to quote 'way to go --- don't take crap from no one'

The circumstances of the penalty was that our player initiated and was called...there wasn't any reason for it...especially a good one but the parent was proud of his youngster...why?

1.) Much more important to get the penalty and look like a tough guy than win the game?
2.) Oblivious to the fact that his child hurt his teams chances of success?
3.) A person who likes to see penalties.
4.) Enjoys hearing his son's name announced?

My opinion is that it is selfish and more than short sighted. Obviously this parent has influenced his child to believing that his actions reflect more importance than others. After witnessing this (wasn't the first time) I just think to myself (How can the player get away with that type of behavior and then the parent condones it?) Whew! Just so you know this parent knows where I come from and I have told him my opinion on such matters.

I am far from perfect but if my child acted like that he would not play...period. Obviously, it would create controversy to bench this kid and others that make blatent mental mistakes..it has been done for years and if the player can't live with it or doesn't care enough to...well than later...there are several who would be willing to take his place...
Can't argue with a thing you said. I always enjoy picking up insight from those that are "living in the moment." From my experience, the most difficult thing is to explain to a child why someone else gets treated in a different way. And, as of this post I haven't figured it out. I just hope the Bison have a chance to shine come playoff time. It would serve the 3 or 4 very good players well, (By the way, I agree with that assessment), it would be productive for their teammates, and the community would enjoy it to no end. I still think this team could make a run. 8)

Good to know we are on the same page. I dont think anyone would disagree with Bison ability to make a run at playoff time but in order to do that everyone including parents must understand the roles on the team and the team must become the important part of any conversation involving the Bison by all.

What are we going to have come play-off time between Buffalo and Tech, assuming a 4-5 seeding?

Bison eek out a W over Rogers tonight (and conference championship?)

Tech spanked Cathedral
Cathedral spanked Rogers
Rogers barely got past Sauk Rapids
Sauk Rapids over Tech.

Hmmmmm, interesteing. Save a hotdog for me if the matchup is in Bison Counrty. :)

Another ringing endorsment from RL for the Bison...I would imagine in the eyes of the coaches that Buffalo has a slight edge over Tech for the 4 spot...

Bison had 14 shots through 2 periods and trailed 4-2 with 3 mins left finished the game with 30 plus..Bison 'as they do so often in M8' slept walked through first two and needed a goal with 12 secs left to tie. Princeton played better then expected but made Princeton like mistakes toward the end of the game to enable Bison to win.

I will not talk about officiating...I'll leave that to your imagination...

The two teams meet again tomorrow night which may be more than interesting as I think this time Princeton will get the Bison's best game as a team. Last night only a couple players played well for Buffalo....but in the end the Bison won and hung onto to their undefeated status in the M8.

you mean neut1fer now...well it was an embarrassing game but I saw Rogers only outshot them 25-21 in their game and playing up there with the local yocals on a -55 degree night was scary...somehow I knew the Bison would be in slow motion last night.

bottom line is that they are not as bad as you would think...they got buried in Rochester A tournament and we won the AA side...Princeton gave everything they had and they should be commended. However, I think tomorrow may be a little different story as I know the kids and our coach were not happy. Still won...still one game ahead in the Conference race...really that is all that matters...regarding sections...Buffalo has Classic Lake Conference round robin coming up...that will determine our seeding more than anything I think.

Hope they don't spot that 4-2 win over STMA too!

They are not better then I think... in periods 1 and 2 Rogers scored 2 goals each in the 1st 1:50 and :30 sec respectively after which they skated a lot of there 3rd and 4th lines, and even some JV players got time...as far as shots that's pretty good for us to get 7 goals on 25 shots do the math it's not likely.

You know they are not very on top of the scoring and clock there.
Also the classless way they treat the visiting team during introductions is pathetic.

CNT...you seem a little miffed that I would suggest Princeton was not that bad. I don't know why we had trouble but they played pretty well against us... and we are undefeated in the conference.

They are pathetic in the way they treat their visitors..however, there were more Bison fans than Princeton at the game...but of course the Bison always get everyone in the conference best game.

I hope the Bison prove a point tonight and then move on Saturday to some games of consequence in the Classic Lake. I am hopeful the Bison can pick up a couple wins making their way through the round robin of 5.

Really though, more just having fun on the "bored", so best of luck, those last 5 games will be a good warm up into section play for ya.

CNT...move past it...after tonight it will be official. The Bison won fair and square and despite an impressive effort to homer Buffalo out of the crown...the Bison overcame and won it back and I am fairly certain the crown will stay in place next year as Rogers will find out how many shots their dynamic duo kept off their goalie.

Last year the Royals really didn't 'win' the crown...more like backed into it. The Bison took 3 of four points from Royals last year as well....just pesky Cambridge beat the Bison whenour coach was guilted into playing our back up goaltender...so the crown has returned to it's rightful owner CNT.

Whatever makes ya feel like a HOFamer....
But if Princeton takes ya to OT??? and STMA a 2 goal victory well lets just say the roads gonna get rougher.
Besides I said good luck  so smile and enjoy your Crown.

Goaltending could be an issue with Buffalo next year with no Varsity experience coming up.

How has the j.v. tender(s) been looking?

Only thing HOFamer makes you feel like is old...

Facts are that Bison have taken 6 of eight points from Royals over past couple of season's and will be conference champs again tonight...Not even you can Can't Never Try to argue with that.
