goldy - I like the idea of limiting what they do at pee wees and below. But not everyone would agree. A group came forward and wanted to bring a 12U team to Nationals.
There are a lot of hockey people and giving everyone what they want is not easy.
As far as baseball goes, what you said is true at the upper level (Babe Ruth, VFW, Legion). But 13 and 12 year old baseball in the north and west is very difficult for games etc between communities. At the local level some do well, some do not. And generally there is no consistency from year to year.
Here at home we have avery good in house program and our traveling teams do very well. But we have had the same president for 6 or 7 years as well as others that have been around as long or longer.
Most communities that I talk with have no one that brings that effort other than to the team or age group their son or daughter is at. We ahve been working hard to help these other communities but it has nto been easy.

dutchman - It seems the problems you list have nothing to do with MN Hockey but with Albert Lea Youth Hockey. Whether AAU or MNH or another group, these problems could still exist.
I wish you well with AAU squirts.
However, have you thought about bringing these issues to all the people of Albert Lea and to MN Hockey. If there has been a theft or financial problems within the organization I am very concerned.
And the other problems seem to be something that the DD should be concerned with.
If you wish, please contact me.

What am I missing?
What did I miss about the problems with the Albert Lea Assn? I was aware of the theft that occured.

Where do they get ice
I am all for AAU getting into hockey. I can't think of anything better then the old codgers of USA hockey having to compete with someone as rich and powerful as themselves.
My question is how are they going to gaurantee that teams will get ice during the regular season. Associations and High Schools own it and are not going to give it up easily.
