Programs that lose players.
Re: Won't happen today!
You're joking right? Schools like STA, AHA, Blake, Breck....don't have youth programs to begin with. They don't develop any players so by definition they don't lose any players. All they do is recruit from other district's youth programs. They are the problem. Sure open enrollment has added to the problem, but without private schools stealing players there would be much less incentive for public schools (like Duluth East) to recruit.

Re:
nostalgic. i was pondering your question about warroad with a few buddies after their game. they understood that the warroad players are a few steps removed from a private school model in that marvin windows throws the "net" out to a number of families to come and work for the window corporation. one of the relocation caveats, of course, is that they have to have a hockey player with promise or we cannot grant them a job at marvin windows. the marvin grandson is the only home-grown player to my knowledge on the team...with a number of move-ins from canada, montana, the dakota's etc. so, posters with inside knowledge on the background on the players, please shed some light on this topic...

Idk but i think u can get some places even if ur on a team with no exposure. I mean look at Jake Hovick from Roch. JM u think roch teams get much exposure no but he stayed with us cuz he knew we had a chance to still be good and go to state with his buddies. Well we got upset in sections and didn't make it to state in 04 but he still went on to Juniors through West Point and now, I'm not sure on this, but I heard he is goin' to play for the Air Force Academy which is a D1 team. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... smokin.gif ALT=":smokin">

Yes this is delayed, but think about what you just said. If AHA didnt lose the players they originally stole from other programs, think how good they would be... Kind of a hypocritic viewpoint wouldnt you agree? But honestly that doesnt even matter, who cares how good your school would be with all the players we've lost. Most schools have lost good players, thats part of high school hockey, but to the private schools who lose players to juniors or to the development team honestly just be happy for the kids, because they have serious futures in hockey. And dont talk about what if's, because its a never ending rainstorm.

Hey Lee maybe you would know this, I am wondering how many players on Marshall's team were supposed to go to Duluth East?

Leaving teams
Thanks Dank06. What your telling me is that Edina has 20 players that have left the the program in the last 2 years. That is to bad. I find it amazing that so many kids leave their programs so easily.

Re: Leaving teams
Its a matter of how you look at it. Edina has such a great youth program that they create a lot of good players. Now a lot of HS coaches like to balance their team with Sr's, Jr's and soph's. There is only room for x-many Sr's on a team. What are the rest to do? When can they see the writing on the wall? Bantams? Sophmore?

Re:
NPGandy Let me clue you in. I know all of this kids. All but a few were born and stated school in Warroad. Check the youth teams. A few have moved in , but when you have a factory with 2500 empolyees people are alway coming to town and a few do play hockey, but most play basketball. Oshie came in 10th grade and I knew his grand parents and both are from Warroad. Josh B came as a PeeWee. Larson's dad has worked for Marvins for years. I am always amazed that a team that keeps winning must be doing something wrong. Roseau has Polaris and TRF has Artic and Digi-Key and Warroad has lost players to both towns over the years.
Maybe it is just the fact that hockey means more to Warroad people than most towns and they expect to win and put time and effort into the game. Every town has some sport that they do well at and hockey just happens to be Warroad's sport. I wouldn't spend a lot of time listening to people who don't have a clue.
