Goalie is very difficult to evaluate. I’ve only seen Garrity once but I’d rather face him than Holum. Both nominated goalies have good or very good teammates to help them out. I’ve seen Holum have to make two or three difficult saves in a row. Making 40-60 saves against quality opponents is much different then making 20-30. I’m sure both goalies are very deserving but I agree with those that suggest the list needs to be expanded.
I was curious about that statement as well. It seems like the recent high profile goalie prospects like Jake Oettinger and Jared Moe have left early to juniors or the NTDP. I’m not sure high school netminders are viewed quite the same as skaters when it comes to shorter term NHL and even NCAA potential.mulefarm wrote:Just curious on how Mn goalies are expanding their skill and NA recognition?
Mulefarm and Stang
Just saying seems to me that Minnesota is producing more and more better and better goalies — in Bantams , in HS , more to juniors , more to D1, and some even getting to NHL and affiliates . Maybe started accelerating with the Charlie Lindgren era.( I’m sure Karl has some stats on this going back a few decades, so he will probably prove me wrong!)
Anyway , Thinking it would be good for MSHSL to expand Brimsek pool accordingly. Maybe even some day that might help a bit to keep a kid or two in high school longer rather than leaving early?
