5-0 HM over Roseville in 2nd. Might not be the Raiders day...
Although I saw a terrible Forest Lake team overcome a 5-0 deficit to take Hill to 2 OTs in sections one year...

After checking the scoreboard, I'm becoming a big Anoka fan for the day...

Squashing privates is always the priority. Then ugly green teams. Then fleece.Sparlimb wrote:And here I thought you'd say CEC...Goldyismoldy wrote:Egan for me.Sparlimb wrote:

Look at that, Eagan tied it 1-1. Go Eagan Eagles.

When I listened to the Rams win the section finals in Girls hockey they other night (in like 4 OTs), they mentioned there are still more Helgeson's up there. Feel free to send them down...WestMetro wrote:Roseau back in finals. They beat MH once this year, could win again?
Maybe Jeff will beat STA?
Then we will think we are back in the 90s
(btw, imagine if Rams still had Helgeson, shame on you Lechner. Talked to Osieki in the ticket line at Braemar today, he is happy to get Ben!)

Hermantown beat Virg--oh, wait, I don't know the final score, I fell asleep.
In the few moments that I stirred during the running time third period, I saw that Hermantown wasn't even trying to shoot...they were passing up easy shots and just running passing sequences in the offensive zone. It was painful to watch.
Hibbing-Greenway, on the other hand, really delivered. Good, tight game between two good rivals, with Lantz and Troumbly combining for the game-winner early in the 3rd and some great late pressure by Hibbing. Those two were warriors, logging a ton of ice time--they took a 2-minute shift to start the game, and another long one just a minute later--and made the difference. I was a little confused by some of Hibbing's personnel decisions, most notably shifting Jarrett Lee back to defense for the first two periods, but they still had their chances in the end, and couldn't quite cash in.
Congrats to the Raiders on their first section final since the Guyer-Sertich days. There was a lot of 1980 talk in the postgame interviews. They have a nice team, and it would've been interesting to see what sort of damage they (or Hibbing, for that matter) could've done in the State Tournament. And maybe Bruce we being coy, but he didn't at all sound like someone on the verge of a leap to AA in the postgame comments.

Closed-circuit to karl(east)....
Bielenberg from Northfield is one of the top goalies in this state and deserves some love on the podcast, Red Wings goalie is awfully good as well, that 1A final should be a great game and deserves coverage. People will poo poo it but Northfield would be a #2 seed in 1 AA, they are big and strong, play good defense, not as deep as Farmington was last year but close....Lakeville North could win a couple games at state, they will be a tough out should they make it. South is a good team.
Northfield will be an A A team in the next 4 years, a section title will help grow that program.....they remind me of Lakeville circa 2005 or so.
