Crazed Champlin Park Mom Puts Opposing Player in Headlock

I have never posted on anything in my life, but I heard this was on here and can not keep silent anymore. I was in lobby and witnessed this mom approached the hockey player. I can assure all of you that, yes, the mom confronted the player, she did place her hand on the players back while talking with her. I do think this mom did not have a right to do that. HOWEVER with that said. I can also assure you that in NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM did this mom yell at her OR put her in a headlock. I'm sure the player felt personally attacked but honestly, the lobby was full, do you really think that any adult in their right mind would allow anybody to do this to anyone?? This is a case of what social media has come to. The players choice of words were put on twitter and it exploded. It is so out of control and shameful as to what has become of this. This whole thread needs to be deleted. I do want to say to the family of the girl, that I personally would have intervened had I seen anything, as I would hope you would do the same for my daughter, whether we are on the same team or not. There were several witnesses in the lobby and not one can back up the same story that was put on twitter. This has gone too far.

Thanks for that. It's too bad it all escalated so quickly on social media.

HOWEVER, I feel strongly that parents should never confront a player from an opposing team unless its with congrats. There are as many bad refs as good refs sometimes but it's rare you see a game decided by bad or no calls. If the parent HAS to speak up a letter to the appropriate parties would get her issue across without crossing the line. The appropriate party is never the child.

And yes I would also intervene.

You're sure the MINOR felt personally attacked but then you go on to say nothing happened? Just a nice pat on the back? The woman grabbed hold of her, pulled her in, and demanded an apology to her daughter. That's not something to be taken lightly. It's disgusting. It's assault. And the woman should never be able to watch her daughter play in another arena again.

I'd be the first person to jump in if I ever saw another parent touching ANY child. That's what we're still talking about right? Parents attacking children?

Chandler23, please reread my post. I did not say that 'nothing' happened. I am stating that the mom was not yelling, the mom did not pull her in and the mom did not put the player in a headlock and I stated that I DID NOT AGREE with the mom that approached, talked to and placed her hand on the players back. You are wanting me to say that something more happened and I am telling you what I saw through my eyes.

I also do not agree with all the social media attacks. This and all of it needs to stop, it has caused horrible things to be said between adults/students/players that are not even involved. Adults need to be adults and parents need to monitor minors social media

I totally agree with you. If I had know the mom was saying anything other then 'a positive', I would have intervened also. I honestly thought they knew each other. But unfortunately I wasn't close enough to hear the conversation, only telling what I witnessed.
