I'm sorry about the online feed of the game. Our internet at the rink needs to be upgraded.kniven wrote:I will be streaming both jv and varsity games at the following website this Monday. Should be fun =)

When it comes to sheer spectacle for hockey in this state, it's hard to beat East-Cloquet at the Lumberdome. Really, really hard. An hour before the game, the place was already packed and intense for the JV game. Both schools had great student support, and at times breaking out those wonderfully off-color chants reserved only for this game, and at times coordinating in the singing of songs. (Who needs a sound system when the student sections are singing Sweet Caroline and doing the Macarena in concert?) It's hard to imagine an arena of that size being much louder.
There was a pretty good hockey game, too. Cloquet exploded out of the gate with two early goals, but the Hounds tied it with two goals within a minute of each other later in the first, and slowly took over from there. As in the first game, East was able to dictate the pace, as they used their depth to wear down the Jacks and slowly got the forecheck going. Cloquet had two good flurries in the 3rd, the best of which coming when Parker was without a stick. Otherwise, East was content to do a lot of cycling, muck up Cloquet's zone entries, and play sharp D.
Special teams were key to this one. East was 2-for-2 on the PP (they are now 5 of their last 6), whereas the Cloquet PP didn't really generate a whole lot, not even on the last PP of the game when the net was empty for a while. The new East setup makes brilliant use of Moore, and their kills were solid, as they have been just about all season.
This game didn't do much to change the complexion of the 7AA race. It's a quick turnaround for the Jacks, as they have to take care of business against Andover tomorrow. East doesn't have much time to bask in the glory of 10 in a row vs. the Jacks; Lakeville North is playing good hockey right now, and they can't take them lightly come Thursday. We'll see if we get a rematch in a few weeks.
