Tickets are good for both games, and each school gets an allotment to sell (bought mine already). So if both games sell 5,000 tix (easy), the place gets sold out.Weekend_Warrior wrote:Why - you think this game is going to sell out MARIUCCI?? That won't happen. Not unless there's only a certain given number of tickets available. But then.. why would they do that? That would be stupid.easton18 wrote:I'm pretty sure you can get them at each of the 4 high schools, but they go on sale Wednesday at 2pm at Mariucci. clearly weekend-warrior either did not attend these games, or was one of the people lucky enough to get to the game with tickets or before the line was out the doors of marriuci.
If I remember correctly I arrived something like 30 min. early to the game, and still missed the first half of the first period of the 2AA final.

I think it will be an interesting game. I think it could go either way, but think Edina will win.
Edina's strength is in their depth, speed, & experience. Their depth will allow them to match lines the way they want against B'Ville's top guns & still allow them to play the style they want. Their speed is helped by the big Mariucci sheet. Edina's traditionally had smaller, good skating & puck moving defencemen, generally speaking. I think the wider rink will play to this and help them, especially a smaller D-man like Baker. Their experience will help in that if things don't go their way at some point, there probably won't be much panic from players or coaches.
The goaltending matchup should be a good one.
I think Edina will win, but won't be shocked if Burnsville is hog piling at the end of this one either.

An entertaining game to watch, especially in the final period. After Burnsville scored the go-ahead goal they had some extra bounce in their step looked like they might take control, but Edina slowly took over again. Edina was just a little deeper and had a few more top-end players, both at forward and at D. Enghum had a very strong game in goal, but unfortunately for him, his career with the Blaze ended on that shot from Sampson.
Congrats to Burnsville on a strong year; they lose a bit, but they've got a deep program and there are some young players on that team with bright futures.
And congrats to Edina...love them or hate them, they set the bar for the rest of MN HS hockey. Considering the strength of the sections they've been coming out of, 5 in a row is quite the feat. See ya at the X next week, Hornets.

I thought Edina looked sluggish and out of sync for most of the game. While they were ahead in shots, it seemed like Burnsville had the better quality scoring chances. That all changed after the Hornets tied it in the third. The Hornets really took over at that point and looked like the team I saw on Saturday at BIG. It was only a matter of time until they took the lead then.
Big props to the Burnsville student section! They were loud, passionate, dressed up, choreographed and lively. They were ready to go from before the teams came out for warm-ups and kept going right through the awards ceremony at the end. They could use some new material though as some of the chants were old when I was young, and I'm really old!
How come Edina didn't have a band there?

penalty
What a brutal call by the official on the penalty against Burnsville in the 3rd period. People around me were very surprised that anything happened to deserve any penalty.
