There is always the Green and White of the Beavers! And Bemidji State has done a decent job recently of getting goalies to the next level with Matt Climie seeing time with Dallas and Phoenix (currently in San Antonio of the AHL) and Matt Dalton currently in Providence of the AHL.MNHockey75 wrote:Alex is arguably the best goaltender in the state. He WILL get a DI scholarship and will possibly get drafted. There's little doubt he will have himself a nice hockey career. Although I'd love to see him in Green and White in few years, it's not likely. Gothberg (who is only 3 months older) arrives in 2012-2013 and Aaron Dell has emerged as one of the best goaltenders in the nation.

I was thinking that same thing a few days ago. They have Dan Bakala who is a junior right now and Matthew Dieugas who is a sophmore. If Lyon does two years of juniors he could step right into that starting role. One year would maybe get him some time his freshman year.BSUBeaver wrote:There is always the Green and White of the Beavers! Alex Lyon is the real deal, facing 60 shots a night and doing a great job, No doubt he will play at a D1 school and be very succsessful! He plays his angle as good as I have seen. His composure in net is outstanding, never rattled and alway plays 150% Good luck to him, I look forward to seeing him at a D1 school.
I am just finding this forum and I am a season ticket holder for Cedar Rapids. Alex Lyon could be a good goaltender eventually but he was one if not two steps too slow to play in the USHL. With this, he did not make the roster this year in Cedar Rapids. Maybe we were spoiled with Brady Hjelle last year, but Coach Carlson brought in Matt McNeely and Peter Traber to be the netminders this year.
I wish Alex nothing but the best though.....seemed like a nice kid the little bit I got to talk to him.

He's too slow for the USHL........ but he recently commits with Yale? He only played in one or two USHL games after his HS season.herbst20 wrote:I am just finding this forum and I am a season ticket holder for Cedar Rapids. You're a joke!

Like I said I wish him nothing but the best.
In the games/practices I saw, his reaction times were a step too slow. I stand by what I saw.
Plain and Simple he wasn't good enough for Coach Carlson or he would have made the team. Coach brought in two high rated goalies to be the net minders this year.
