In fact a NP practice today would be a good idea....
While a NP practice the NEXT day is fine, the "after the game practice" is really worthless. The reason to practice is to 1) get better and 2) to increase strength/stamina/etc.
As a coach you are there to MOTIVATE your team to do better. I have serious doubts that its motivating to have to skate directly after a tough loss to a top 10 team, and your not really going to get better or gain anything by practicing after a game. It LOWERS team moral and just pisses people off. A really dumb move.

I'm sure that team that won gold in New York 30 years ago was real pissed off...I see a bright future for the Cadets

Agree. Greg (or is it Tom) Vanelli is a jerk behind the bench. He spends way too much time yelling at at officials.

Like I said, wasn’t at the game last night, so can’t comment on the play, but I have attended several games this year where the STA team just is not putting fourth their best effort. They also have a few individuals who at times think they can/should do it all themselves vs. moving the puck and working together as a “team”.
One can motivate with the carrot or the stick. Last nights skate was the stick, with a little side benefit of some conditioning and hopefully an attitude adjustment. I’m sure today’s practice will be up beat with lots of hugs and kisses>>>>and then they are off for the weekend with two days rest before Mondays practice.
When the STA team is working hard/playing as a unit, it is extremely difficult for an opposing team to keep up with them. Their best defense is their team speed and offensive puck control skills.
I think the Vanelli’s know what they are doing…

I can not believe that a coach at any level would make those kids that played a great game against medi go out and practice after a 2 hour game. I hope it comes back to bite you in the butt. Your not a Herb Brooks Minellyvinnelly

STA knocked out of a conference co-championship. Thanks, Zephs. After the cheap shot on Kevin Becker you owed Hill-Murray one.

Hey stpaul have you watched the tape? You should to see what a cheap shot it was not

Mahtomedi

I was there. I saw the elbow to the head live and I know where the puck was when he was hit. Kevin Becker is healthy and back. I don't even know which Mahtomedi player it was and he hasn't been named on this board. I think Coach Poeschl is a good guy. The Zephs have a talented club and I hope they knock off STA again in the playoffs.

I agree that Posch is a great guy but did you see the tape? I agree that medi needs to knock off STA

How could it be!!?
Almost all scoring by the Mahtomedi 1st line forwards and their D1 signee Defenseman.
Save % of sub .830 by STA goalies should be a concern as they head into sections.
STA and Mahtomedi move on to "A" sections. Hill moves to "AA sections and will not see either Classic Suburban rival to next winter.

Kurt Altrichter, who has played in 16 games this season, has a save percentage of 88.7% and Zach Wynne, who has played in 12 games this season, has a save percentage of 91.6%. Not sure where you are getting your stats.
St Thomas has scoring from many lines. Hopefully the first line works together to play a defensive game while on the ice and lets the other lines score. Put Zach Wynne in net for the games that matter and shut down Mahtomedi's first line and they're in.

.
Save percentage of the two goalies in their last game (STA vs. Maht). I believe both played.
Not a great night by either goal tender as they head into sectionals this week. Let's hope the trend continues.
