Gracious...??? You must be joking.

1. Chaska people are the ones coming on here talking smack about the EP fan(s) and the game...I didn't say a thing - until you guys started chirping - woke up and saw a bunch of crap talking on here

2. I have done no name calling so far - seems your the only one name- calling. Please refer to your last sentence.

3. Contact is part of Hockey. Some players get hit from time to time. Deal with just accept the fact the girls have contact like boys hockey ( a little bit)

4. Imagine if there ways NO contact allowed in Girls hockey at all - how bad would that be...

5. No one likes to see players get hurt.

6. Lets stay on Topic.

7. I hope your practising the "Chaska Hawks Wave" for Fridays game..

I was at the games at Bloomington and saw the EP vs. Chaska game. Very good game, hard fought, evenually matched, fast and sloppy at times, do mainly to the competitive match up and being close neighbors. The refs looked the other way early against Chaska and maybe later missed a hook that lead to a Chaska goal.

I know the Superstar and he likes stirring it up. I was not far away and did see him dancing and mocking their fans and saw the fans pointing back. As I always say be gracious (both sides) in winning and in losing. Edina will be a big hill for Chaska to climb and they will get the chance on Friday. Eagle nation will live on and I am sure the Superstar will be around to let us know. Leave the Superstar alone he is winning! :) Good luck to all remaining teams!

Krach Rankings

GHS - Why would Chaska drop from #51 to #60 after the win on Tuesday?

Not a big deal, but I work with stats a lot and am curious.

What did the model see?

It appears that Chaska actually moved up three spots (63 to 60) and EP dropped two (21 to 23) after the game on the 16th.

I'm looking at the "Overall" ranks here - not Class - from these two files:
http://www.bgoski.com/KRACH_OA_20100216.htm
http://www.bgoski.com/KRACH_OA_20100217.htm

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong files re: your question?

I see the issue... Chaska was #51 in the Class AA Ranking back on the 16th... I think that the Class and Overall rankings were getting mixed up. See http://www.bgoski.com/KRACH_AA_20100216.htm

This is easy to do as so many of the top teams are in Class AA now. In fact an "AVERAGE" fictitious team in the state would have a rating of 10.00000 in KRACH. For Class AA - 51 of 70 teams (73%) are "above average" (i.e. rating > 10.0000) whereas for Class A only 14 of 53 teams (26%) are "above average." What this means is that to be ranked #15-20 in Class A you only need to be an average team in the state (i.e. ranked in the top 65-to-75 teams overall in the state (123 teams total in state)).

Any idea why the Classes aren't more equal in numbers?

I assume it's due to A teams opting up to AA as Roseau did with success this year and as do many private teams like Hill Murray?, Holy Angels, Benilde, Cretin?, etc. I'm a little surprised that Blake & Breck haven't opted-up yet and similarly now with Roseau in AA will be interesting to see if Warroad considers doing the same? SSP opted-up for years as well but the admin there decided to not opt-up which wasn't entirely supported by the team.

It would be nice to see some of the weaker teams in AA have the ability to opt down to A but I guess then you'd be getting too close to a two tier scenario like the boys tried years ago before going to Classes...

Joe,

You need to correct the 1AA match up. Its Lakeville South vs Lakeville North (not Farmington).

As far as I know the coaches pick the top four teams today and the other four are randomly picked. My best guess based on power rankings:

Roseville #1
Irondale #2
Edina #3
Hopkins #4
